Less-Lethal self-defense weapons

How does this group feel about Less-Lethal self-defense weapons? In particular, I would like feedback on a dual-use system called Wasp. Where a less-lethal baton is launched from a regular pistol, then if needed, follow-up shots are bullets. i.e., No additional risk to attempt a less-lethal ending vs. starting with a standard firearm.
