Carrying in a college town

Hey team,​I live and frequently visit several cities and towns that have colleges in or around them. Several times i have learned that i came very close to walking on a school campus without even realizing it. Especially when the college is fully integrated into the city (one block is city, one block is school, one block city again) with no indicators that you are entering a university.​Does anyone have any advice on quickly and easily learning what is and is not university property? I try to do my research beforehand, but as plans and events change, i dont always have time to spend 20 minutes on google.
