I'm fairly new to CCW, mainly because I only got my CHP about a year ago. It wasn't difficult in VA, but they did take the maximum allotted time and then some.In the past few months, I've had a number of interesting experiences, let me know if this isn't the right type of post for the sub or if you've got some advice.I was hiking in the Appalachian trail with some of my friends, we all open carried because it's more comfortable and not all of my friends have a CHP. On the way back home, we stopped to go to church in Charlottesville, we left the guns in the car but apparently someone saw us, they called the cops, and I got escorted out of the church mid-service. The cops were polite and apologized for the trouble but the church staff claimed that I looked "dangerous" and they'd do it again.I was visiting some friends in NoVa, was sitting in my car at the curb, saw a drive-by shooting go on, I had my SW Shield but luckily never needed it. Just last week I was a club, I or one of my friends will be the designated driver and carrying, so, not drinking, I happened to be carrying my LCP that night, a fight broke out, one guy got knocked over, his gun came flying out and multiple other guns were drawn. I and my friends weren't involved, we made a swift exit out the rear of the club, and thankfully it seems the situation de-escalated.I typically alternate between a LCP II and a SW PC shield 9mm carried IWB, depending on my attire. Last night I was exercising, and unbeknownst to me, the retention screw on my holster had come completely undone. I jumped up for something and my LCP came flying out. I grabbed it quickly and the only people who saw it thought it was a phone. It wouldn't have happened if I were wearing pants with a belt but I had never thought to check the screws on my holster. Is that something that's happened to any of you?Any tips for a relatively new carrier? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2OpEJQW
