Question about a pistol passed down to me in PA.

Hello all, When my grandfather passed away back in the 90's my dad kept his .22LR revolver. Today my dad just gave it to me. I have the original bill of sale (1949) the pistol has never been registered, is it actually legal for me to have and carry in PA?
