Unpopular opinion inside. The apparent attitude of this sub towards criticizing Rittenhouse is disheartening.

Not sure if the mods will allow this kind of post, but if not, then they will delete it.This will be a long wall of text. Read at your own expense! For the most part, I think everyone here agrees that Rittenhouse was justified in his self-defense, no questions there. What is disappointing to me are the people who are criticizing him, saying things like "he had no business to be there", "He was an idiot and in the wrong for putting himself in a situation where that could happen", and the number of people who seem to agree with that.I get it, you wouldn't have put yourself in that situation--honestly, I probably wouldn't have either. You might have a family to take care of or other stakes that can't be risked. But just because you wouldn't doesn't mean Rittenhouse is an idiot or wrong to do what he did. Why not you ask?Rittenhouse saw that the grown ups in the room--the police and others in charge--were doing NOTHING to stop the riots, and he decided to step up because he wanted to HELP people by providing first aid--even preventing the mob from rolling a flaming dumpster into a gas station. Can you blame him?I just can't wrap my head around the fact that there seem to be so many people here who would criticize someone who is willing to put themselves in danger in order to help others, aka who we would traditionally call a hero. People the likes of Kyle are the ones that would step up to stop your home from being burned down when you're away; they would be the ones to step in when your spouse or kid gets jumped at night and then give first aid.People like Kyle are the ones that actually take action to try and prevent society from burning to the ground, rather than only looking out for his own interests and allowing terrible things to take place. I'm NOT saying that people who wouldn't do that are selfish--we all have our own risks and decisions to make, but it's disheartening to see Kyle's behavior being so discouraged. Do you think your community would be a better or a worse place with more people like Kyle in it?Kyle had values, he stuck to them, and I respect him for that. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3kFrFpZ
