Leaving CCW in the car: lockable glove compartment vs lock box

I leave my CCW at home when I know I'm going to a restricted place, but sometimes you can't plan for everything. I was wondering what people's preferred option for storing your CCW in your car. Is it better to put it in a lockable glove compartment/center console or a completely separate lock box with a tether cable? I would prefer to use the lockable glove compartment because it can fit my gun while it's still in the holster, but I think that's one of the first places a person would look if they broke in to my car.
