So I'm not old enough to get a conseled carry permit and I have a lot for friends and family who carry pistols but I don't think I'm gonna carry one.
because they're just difficult to carry, you gotta wear baggy clothes , it's uncomfortable to sit down for appendix carry, you gotta spend money on kydex that takes up more room than the weapon it'self, and they're heavy as hell compared to other weapons
Not to mention the risk of over penetration and the fact it's an active weapon unlike a fixed blade where someone can just push against your knife
And like other self defense weapons, you still need combatives training because if someone gets to you without you knowing they're wanting to hurt you, you're gonna have to wrestle for your gun and your gonna have to wrestle to use it. unlike a fixed blade or hell even something like the back ripper tomahawk you can't use your gun to help in the grapple
Hell I'd say you effectively need less combative training with a stick a tomahawk or a knife than a gun , because it's in our DNA to swing shit at people's head . And yes we evolved to be hunters and aim but we threw things and it's the same motion as swinging or slashing or over head stabbing.
The majority of us are never ever gonna have to defend our selves or others . And if something more comfortable will get the job done in the most likely situations I'm gonna wear that instead.
