First day conceal carrying

Today was my first day conceal carrying. I live in AZ which is a pretty gun friendly state and I’ve looked into it a long time but I didn’t go around to buying my first firearm for at least a couple years.I ended up buying a Glock 48 because I shot my buddy’s at a range and really liked it. I’m also not too big of a fan of sub compact guns because they just don’t feel comfortable to hold despite having pretty average sized hands. I like the confidence having a full grip gives me and the 48 gave me just that since it’s basically a Glock 19 on a diet.I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a holster so I bought a concealment express Kydex IWB holster off Amazon. To my greatest surprise, I tried on the rig around the house and it was pretty much as comfortable as a holster can be and it fit perfectly. I’m a big dude, 6’1 and about 270.. so I’m pretty fat needless to say, I carry my weight well and look like a solid mass but I need to lose it, so I carry IWB right at about 3:30.Did my usual errands this morning strapped with my 48 with a chambered round and it went perfectly fine. It did feel a little weird going out in the garage and in my car thinking “damn, I have a loaded gun strapped to my hip” but I think every new gun owner / CCW thinks that. So between trips to the drug store, ups store, and grocery shopping nothing happened. I just wore a regular cotton T-shirt and flannel over it and the gun completely disappeared. Sometimes leaning in certain positions can present some handle print.. but I looked around and observed the area, and absolutely no one is paying attention at all. People are very self absorbed and aren’t checking to see if you have a firearm. If I made any micro adjustments such as pulling my pants up a bit and making sure my holster was secure I did it right outside of my car door when I stepped out.. but nothing happened. One thing I really love about Glocks is the smooth handle. I know people love to stipple and like an aggressive grip, but I had no problem with the stock handle and it feels okay against my skin. It doesn’t feel like sandpaper scraping at my skin when carrying.Overall a very comfortable and positive experience. There were times it felt very natural and no hinderance at all. I’ll be carrying my 48 from here on out. Only thing I’m worried about is since I am a pretty big dude with love handles, carrying in the summer might be more difficult in the Arizona heat since I do print pretty decently with just a cotton T-shirt, so I may need to adjust to a smaller carry gun.. or lose some weight. Hah.Probably not the most exciting post, but I know lots of new shooters like myself lurk this sub, so that was my experience. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/36UAftx
