Can someone help decode this restriction? Colorado CCW "Committed as an alcoholic"

Out of curiosity, I started reading through various state CCW's regulations. I noticed Colorado has very harsh verbiage related to alcohol and drug related offenses. Most of the regulations read normal, until it comes to alcohol. Colorado has a "special" section which reads as follows:You are not legally entitled to obtain a Colorado concealed handgun carry permit if you are a habitual user of drugs and/or alcohol. You are considered a chronic and habitual user of alcoholic beverages with impaired faculties if:You have at any time been committed as an alcoholic.Am I interpreting this restriction correctly? If you have ever been deemed an alcoholic in any state, you cannot obtain a Colorado CCW?Several states offer alcohol rehabilitation programs, some of which are nested within deferred prosecution programs. Upon entry into these programs, you are declared an alcoholic. My guess is Colorado never did any research or considered this when drafting CCW restrictions. It's surprisingly intolerant and feels like it was written in a vacuum. I couldn't find any other states with the same restriction. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3ejaYfX
