10 years of daily carry.

All holsters suck, but some suck less. Putting a brick on your hip will never be completely comfortable. Is your set-up tolerable? Okay good, you're search is over.I hate slim single stack pistols, but i understand their popularity. I carried an LCP in my pocket for 3 years because of a job that made anything else impossible. Loading and unloading a box truck, driving it, and making deliveries will test your resolve. I went from a glock 26, to ppk/s, to the LCP. Why? Mostly because of the weight making a long day longer and harder. I always felt under gunned, but never felt unarmed.Sell you slim single stack pistol. Suddenly you're glock 26 is concealable again. Most people won't notice a glock in an owb holster, almost no one notices your IWB. Stop worrying so much. You'll spend less at bars. Why? Because when I go out to eat with my wife, I'd rather bring a gun than not. Especially the last few months. People will think you're a recovered alcoholic. Don't believe them. You'll end up with a box of holsters.Carry a full size steel gun for a month, once you get used to it, switch back to your small ccw. Now it seems tiny. Magic!A good ankle holster is great for the office.Night sights are over rated. Most "upgrades" are over ratedYour job will ultimately dictate your gun and carry method. Your body shape will narrow your choices even more. Do what you are able to do.AIWB glock 19's with red dots and lights are pure fantasy. No one edc's this shit and if they do they wont forever. And i doubt they work on their feet. If you have strong build, ie muscles this shit is even more of a joke. Get your squat up to 300 and let me know where that muzzle is going when you sit down. You'll drop that light and red dot and probably that holster. There's so many holster makers because all holsters suck. The next one you get, it will suck too. Good business to be in.Off body carry is fine. Ankle Carry is fine. Pull it out of your ass, its fine too. Just be aware of how much time your carry method may require and its drawbacks. One in the chamber? Sure. One NOT in the chamber? Sure. What a dumb debate. Same thing, be aware of your carry methods delay/drawbacks.That next gun you're going to get...? It's the last gun your going to get? Sure it is. ...Your wife will never check her oil. She'll also never clean her ccw. You'll being doing this, and it's not worth an argument. She also will never know what ammo it takes or what her model is called. But she can hit the target, so you'll settle for that.Stop thinking you need elite level draw skills or manipulation/reload skills. It is helpful, but knowing the basics is most of the battle. Practicing taking cover is probably better. CARDIO.An out of control gun market, complete with plenty of "FORMER CIA Navy Seal Ranger bionic tactical man" filled Youtube channels trying to hock everything from their tactical classes to belts and lights and blah blah blah. You don't NEED any of it. But that guy does need someone to pay for it, it is his vocation to sell this bullshit. Keep your money.Tactical class? Really? You're a warrior now after a $550 8 hour course. Youre sooooo trained now? Ok buddy.TACTICAL CLASSES. Tactics are about movement, you don't even need a gun to practice that. Or a teacher. You need an opponent. Practice with a friend. CARDIO!You EDC 2 knives, 2 flashlights, a pistol, 2 mags, a touniquet, a clotting sponge, a phone, your car keys, a lighter, a this... a that.... cool man. How's your back feel?.... 15 years from now...?Spare mags are nice to have.Carry long enough and you get to the point where every gun is such pain in the ass you may as well stick your full size cz75 in your belt and get on with the day.Carry long enough and when you walk out the door without your gun, you walk right back in and get it, even its going in a back pack.Proficiency is expensive to attain. Stop switching your gear all the time, it's diminishing your proficiency. If you've shot a glock for 10 years and switch to an XD, you loose some of that experience.Ever been in a fight, flight, or die kind of situation? All those "ergonomic" upgrades you spent money on - you wont even feel them. You may not fully feel your extremities for the next hour.Hollow points are nice. FMJ's are nice. Whatever. Some people have gun collections, some people have armories. If all the guns you have take the same magazine and fire the same round, and use the same holsters, its an armory. Variety may be the spice of life, but it requires a lot more experience. Focus you training efforts and money. That old man that u called grampa grew up in an age where "training" was just shooting a 50 round box into a tree stump once in a while. And He still shoots better than you. Stop wasting your ammo in long sessions. Regularly shooting 50-100 rounds will probably be more benificial then 500 rounds in a once a year session. You will get older. You will watch your friends die, you'll burry your parents, you'll dribble milk off your chin while you try to eat gram crackers with no teeth left. But before most of that happens, you will get tired. Make it easy on yourself and only carry what you need. The US may be chaotic right now, but it still isn't a warzone. Your lack of cardio will ultimately be the cause of your death. And lastly, everyone and their navy-seal-cia-bionic-brother-who-did-55-tours-in-afghanistan have "very qualified" opinions. There's no shortage of them. The truth is how you as an individual handle panic and adrenaline will dictate the outcome of an attack more so then your gun's accessories. If you've handled this in life you know how you'll do. Same thing goes here, as with your equipment. Understand its limitations. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/30gsITp
