Looking at getting either a Ruger LCR revolver, unsure of which to get

I apologize in advance if I sound uneducated, because, well I am. I recently moved to an area in which I realized it is important to buy a gun for defense. I am a 23 year old female with no previous knowledge of guns whatsoever, but with my research I am leaning towards wanting a revolver. I plan to attend gun safety training at a local range and have one-on-one training before beginning my CC classes.I know the LCR is recommended, I just don’t know and can’t seem to find the differences between .38, .22, and all the other sizes.
