I drank the kool aid a couple weeks back and ordered a couple G19 holsters from T. Rex. One was a quick ship model that was pretty good quality with the exception of a burr on the inside. The burr was significant enough to leave a good scratch on my slide after only a couple draws. I expect kydex to wear the finish eventually but to have it happen that quick on a $60 holster was disappointing to say the least. After getting in there with some sandpaper and removing the burr I didn't have any other problems.I wasn't too worried about it though as I placed another order for a custom raptor. That was the holster I was really holding my breath for. I wasn't ready to commit to a sidecar and looking back I'm glad I waited. The raptor arrived yesterday and having looked it over I'm surprised their stuff gets recommended so often here.Whoever had shipped the holster had tightened the retention screw so tight it had squished the bushing almost flat. I couldn't even get the gun in there with it that way. Upon loosening it up the bushing was so compressed it stayed that way meaning I had basically one point of adjusting the holster.Luckily I have a holster parts box and was able to find another bushing to make it work. Sure, it's a 10 cent part but it's frustrating when you pay $100 for a holster and it shows up unusable. I can't believe they let it ship out that way. Had I not had that parts box I would've been out of luck. Then I tried to attach the attach the second style of clip they include and surprise surprise the fittings required to install it weren't included. The Chicago screws were too big/long to thread through the holes on the clip. So I had to go back to my parts box to find shorter Chicago screws to install it.Beyond that the holster quality itself is just ok. For a $100 I expected a finely crafted piece of equipment. What I got instead was holster with unevenly drilled holes, just mediocre molding and really nothing that stood out over the handful of $30 eBay holsters I've had in the past. Much less another kydex company. Overall I'm just really disappointed in T Rex arms. Turns out they're just a whole lot of hype. Or maybe I just got a couple lemons. Either way I doubt I'll be ordering from them again. Not when there are so many other kydex companies out there. For anyone out there looking for a new holster I would be wary ordering from T Rex. I know there are a lot of positive reviews for them on this sub but in my opinion your money is better spent at Dara or JM Custom. The holsters they make are both cheaper and in my experience on a whole other level quality wise. Having said all that the T Rex holster is definitely usable. I already have it so that's what I'll be carrying with for the foreseeable future. It is just NOT worth what they are asking for it. For $100 there are much better options out there. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2Fm9QsN
