Is there a right way to load a pistol with a full magazine and one in the chamber? Starting with an unloaded weapon, I've always put the magazine in, racked the slide to put a round in the chamber, dropped the mag, loaded another round and put the mag back in. Now I have one in the chamber and a full mag.You could also lock the slide back, load a round directly into the chamber, release the slide, then put in the mag. I've done that with an M16 in basic when we were first learning the rifle and shooting one round at a time so I assume it's safe to do.Is one method better than the other? One safer?
