Just bought a Sig P938

What holster recommendations do you all have? I have a sticky pocket holster that I plan to use from time to time but I also want a good IWB holster that will be used for when I need a tucked in shirt. Is the Stealthgear holster good for this?I have an alienwear holster for my Pt111 (about the size of a glock 26) and it is difficult to wear tucked in shirts because there ends up being a huge bulge on the pants where the gun is.Aside from that, anything else I should know about the gun? I eventually want to buy a crimson trace laser for it via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2np7egM

Finally got my CC license. Budget is no issue. What do I buy?

My only weapon knowledge revolves around what I learned from the army. I know rifles, MGs, and missiles. Pistols, not so much.I currently have a Glock 22 Gen III. I like it, but it seems too big to always carry on my hip. I don't want it to look incredibly obvious while wearing a t shirt that I'm carrying.Price is no issue. What should I buy via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nsuCdW

"How Much Do You Carry" Survey Results

Here are the results of the "How Much Do You Carry" Survey. There were two variations of the question, How Much You Typically Carry and How Much Do You Prefer to Carry.Out of 395 participants in the "Typically" question, the most common carry set up is one gun (5-9 rounds) without a reload.24% / 95 Votes: One Gun (5-9 rounds), Not Reload20% / 80 Votes: One Gun (14+ rounds), With Reload18% / 72 Votes: One Gun (5-9 rounds), With Reload16% / 65 Votes: One Gun (14+ rounds), No Reload11% / 44 Votes: One Gun (10-13 rounds), No Reload8% /30 Votes: One Gun (10-13 rounds), With Reload2% / 8 Votes: Two Guns, New York Reload and Spare Mag1% / 4 Votes: Two Guns, Just a New York ReloadThere were 294 participants for the "Prefer" question, the most common carry set up was one gun (14+ rounds) with a reload.36% / 105 Votes: One Gun (14+ rounds), With Reload15% / 43 Votes: One Gun (5-9 rounds), With Reload14% / 40 Votes: One Gun (10-13 rounds), With Reload12% / 34 Votes: One Gun (5-9 rounds), No Reload11% / 32 Votes: One Gun (14+ rounds), No Reload7% / 21 Votes: Two Guns, New York Reload and Spare Mag5% / 15 Votes: One Gun (10-13 rounds), No Reload1% / 4 Votes: Two Guns, Just a New York ReloadThis is very unscientific so I'm not going to try to analyze this too deeply but there is something interesting stuff to point out.First, we like capacity; the most popular "Prefer" set-up gives the most rounds except the most "Typically" is the least amount.Second, I'm going to guess the people that carry 2 guns without a spare mag are the same in both questions.Lastly, we either like our compacts (think G19) or our single stacks (G43) but not subcompacts (G26) as much. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nonjmE

Why we should drop the term "constitutional carry" and embrace the more accurate term "permitless carry"

The term constitutional carry is a misnomer. It's meant to invoke the idea that, through some magical lawmaking maneuver, our RKBA that is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment is somehow restored. The problem with this argument is that those rights have never gone away. Those of you who are hunters exercise your 2A rights in most states without the need for firearm permits. In effect, you are exercising your right to constitutionally carry. While some argue that concealed carry licenses are an abomination of our 2A rights, it's clear that absent the 2nd Amendment, we would probably not even be discussing concealed carry legislation. But there's a more important reason why "constitutional carry" is a misnomer: It creates an artificially inflated sense of triumph over a right which has already been accorded to us. Sometimes, it even divides the pro-gun citizenry into haves and have-nots: We bicker over which states have "true" constitutional carry, and congratulate states that pass laws to dictate who can carry constitutionally and where they can exercise that state-granted right while ignoring states who have had championed explicit constitutional carry since their early days of statehood.Need some examples? Happy to oblige. There is an article in Wikipedia entitled "Constitutional Carry." There are no legal references to the definition, just some cites that point to some states' definitions of what constitutes constitutional carry. In fact, the very first sentence of that article equates "constitutional carry" with "permitless carry," yet later seems to dither on whether or not states fall into one category or another.Let's look at a couple of states. Montana implicity permits open carry in all parts of the state, by any US citizen. There is a restriction on permitless concealed carry in 0.6% of the state; in the other 99.4% of the state (mostly areas that aren't in cities, logging camps, etc.), permitless carry in all forms is legal. The wikipedia article unexplicably describes this as "permitless carry" but solidly refuses to list Montana as "constitutional carry."Now let's look at Idaho and Wyoming. Both restrict permitless concealed carry to state residents only (open carry for all US citizens is permitted). Yet both are categorized as "constitutional carry," even though roughly 99% of the US population is prohibited from exercising so-called "constitutional carry."So I ask: Which of these states most closely adheres to the spirit of "constitutional carry"?My point here is that "constitutional carry" has no legal definition, pits state against state, and does nothing but divide the pro-2A community into haves and have-nots. I boldly propose that we simply drop the use of "constitutional carry" (since it's really not, except maybe in the case of Vermont) and use the term "permitless carry."Let's not pat ourselves on the back every time a state proposes "constitutional carry" legislation, because it's really not. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nJ1VfH

Revolver Talk

I have been a CCW permit holder for 10 years and spent much of that time carrying revolvers. I started with a 4" Smith and Wesson 66-5 appendix in an OWB pancake holster, then carried a model 36 the same way, which is honestly the most effortless and comfortable carry I've ever experienced. Although these days my Glock 19 and 43 get more time on my belt, unless I'm in the woods, my revolvers remain some of my favorite guns. Just wondering how many of you guys have/do carry revolvers, or simply which ones are your favorites to shoot. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nnRWsA

I know how dumb and gimmicky this sounds at first but does anyone know of an arms manufacturer that makes a gun where the whole gun is attached to the forearm with barrel running parallel to it and you can simply lift your arm and fire?

It would be very useful in a lot of scenarios even if had a really low capacity just because of how fast you could go from just going about your day to firing and especially taking into account you could "draw" on an attacker with out him even knowing. Like handing him whatever he's stealing or something like that. I'm imagining one or two barrels with a large caliber since it wouldn't take up much more space like 357 or 44 mag and a trigger mechanism that can be used by your gun hand or maybe with the other hand? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nTaJQu

I've been carrying my glock 43 for a while, but I've been doing research and wanting to carry the most optimal round for myself. CCW Instructor Advice

I am fairly new to pistols, but I've been shooting shotguns and rifles since I was very young. I recently took my CCW course, and my instructor informed me that I need to switch my shooting style.I am left-eye dominant and right handed. I taught myself to shoot a rifle with my right eye and right hand. My CCW instructor informed me that because I am left-eye dominant, that means I need to shoot my pistol left handed and shoot with my left eye. His thought process on this was that in a high-stress situation, I wouldn't naturally be able to draw and line up the sights quick enough. He actually made me complete the course left-handed, which was a bit of a challenge because I've never even shot left-handed before. My question is this: Is my CCW instructor correct that I should start all over and teach myself to shoot left-handed? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nSonTJ

Layover in Seattle with checked firearm

I just had a quick question for anyone who transports their declared CCW through the airport in Seattle or lives in Oregon. My sister lives near Anchorage, Alaska, while I live in Michigan, and I am planning to bring my pistol with me next time I visit her. Every flight I can find has a layover in Seattle, which would normally be fine, but Oregon doesn't recognize my Michigan CPL. I understand the declaration procedures for transporting a firearm in checked baggage on both involved airlines and the carry laws of both my home state and my destination. I don't, however, understand the gun ownership laws of Oregon. Is there anyone who can tell me if there is anything to be concerned about? Thanks via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2noDQrU

I have three CCW's that I rotate depending on weather/clothing/mood...I shoot two much better than the other?

I has, Shield performance center 9mm, Sig P938, Glock 43.at 10-15 yards, I could hammer in nails with the shield and the G43 (especially the shield). However, even at less than 10 yards, I find myself wholly inaccurate with the p938. I've put around 400 rounds through it and I can't seem to improve with it. It's all over the place. It won't group shit and 90% of the time I miss the target completely. The trigger has a short travel distance, but it has a heavy ass break. Could that be the issue? Also, I got it used, so the sights might be off. How do I adjust them?I know the 938 uses a combat sight picture and the dot should go on the intended point of aim rather than the top of the sight. Still, doesn't make much of a difference. The gun feels great to shoot, and I've only had one failure out of 4-500 rounds (double feed, it was really dirty). This is my second one and I would hate to get rid of it again. I really want to master this little bastard but I'm running out of patience/ammo -_-...Halp?Wish I could tell you where the shots are going but I miss the target entire. Most are low I think...but then when I adjust POA, most are high. It's maddening. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2mTSJWF

Taurus 709 slim as a back up gun/car gun

I already own a custom glock 43 that I edc but I am in college and I have to leave my gun in my car durring class. I don't like leaving my glock in my car because I would hate to have it get stolen and car break ins are not unheard of on my campus.I was considering getting a Taurus 709 slim to just keep in my car while I'm in class and leave my glock locked at home. Does anyone have any experience with this gun?Any advice would be great. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2mU6tAO

Question about getting in a car wreck while CCWing.

This is something I was thinking of and would like to know what the generally agreed-upon best course of action would be.Let's say I got in a car wreck, and no one was hurt. For argument's sake, I have my gun IWB, go up to check on the other car, and no one is hurt OR hostile. We call the police and are standing outside our cars taking pictures, assessing damage, exchanging info, etc., waiting for the police to arrive. At this point, once it's determined that everyone is safe and that there is no threat, should I leave my gun on me while we wait, or put it in the glove box? I'd prefer not to be wearing my gun when the police arrive, even though I know that's not really a huge deal. But I'd less prefer to have the gun in the car unattended. After typing this out, it seems maybe the obvious thing to do would be to keep it on me. But still I'd like to confirm. In this case, I'd probably inform the police that I have it on me (with CCW card) when they arrive, though I realize that is not required.Thoughts? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2noHh1E

It took 17 days, 10 business after going to my tax collector to submit and receive my concealed weapons license (Florida). I was surprised on how fast it came. I also ordered a beltman horse hide belt. Due to the nonstop shilling about Stealthgear on this sub, I finally broke down and got one for my Shield. And you know what? Damned if it isn't a really nicely made, comfortable holster! To Shield or Not to Shield - that is the question

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The JHPs and FMJs that cost a fortune, Or to take Arms against a Sea of paper targets, And by double-tapping end themOkay - sorry for that. Here's my question to you know-it-alls: I own an M&P full size 9mm and I'm looking for something smaller for my CCW. I have shot the shield, and I really disliked how much recoil it produced. My hands are pretty large and I felt like it was bouncing around in my hand.I've held (but not shot) just about all the comparable semi autos from other brands, and none of them feel better in my hand than the shield. The way the grip swells out and the grip angle just feel more natural. Is there something I can do to improve recoil? Does adding Talon Grips held this issue? Any advice would be great. Trying to do as much research as I can before I purchase. Thanks! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nhMvLX

No duty to retreat in CO

"Stand Your Ground" and the Castle doctrine are both exceptions to an understood duty to retreat. CO law doesn't recognize a duty to retreat, so it's a bit different. Our "Make My Day" statute seriously lowers the bar on lethal SD in a dwelling as long as an occupant reasonably believes the intruder is going to commit (or has committed) a crime and will use force of any kind to do so. And rather than simply providing an affirmative defense it immunizes the defendant from prosecution. Don't break and in enter in CO. http://ift.tt/2aXBX4v via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2njlY1u

CCW office question

Hi guys. I am a junior in college at a public university in Ohio, and just got my CCW. Currently not allowed to carry on campus (even with Kasich's new bill, my school reserves the right to expel someone for carrying as it violates the "student code of conduct" which I think is ridiculous because they receive funding from the government and the role of gov't is to protect my individual liberties not encroach them), BUT I'm not on campus daily right now. I am on a co-op internship in the city. My commute to and from work is pretty sketchy and that's what propelled me to finally take my training cert to the sheriff and get licensed. My gun purchase followed shortly thereafter. I've checked the employee handbook, and it's silent on carrying. There are also no signs posted anywhere in or around the building in which I work. I feel perfectly legally fine with carrying in the office, BUT I work in a moderately liberal field (architecture) and I fear if, by some crazy freak accident, I were to print for even a moment, someone would notice and freak out. Most people there are pretty cool, but there is one nosey SJW on the prowl. Since it's an internship, my relationship with this company must be in good standing moving forward for reference purposes. I could just leave the gun in my car, but I park about a 10 minute walk from the office, and that walk is a big part of when I feel unsafe, especially when I work late. I also would be afraid of someone breaking into my car and stealing my firearm, if I were to leave it in there. If I email HR and ask, I'm afraid they'll say no or they'll judge the crap outta me and it will affect my reviews negatively. Is this a situation where it's better to take the risk, feel safe at work, and ask forgiveness rather than permission should someone spot me? With my luck, I'd be the guy who gets stabbed walking to work while his gun is at home locked up. What would you do?Carrying a Shield 9mm with an aliengear 2.0 IWB holster. Doesn't print one bit, especially with all my business casual layers on, plus I'm a pretty big dude. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2nLSVqe

Recommendations for IWB Mag Carrier

I'm undecided on what IWB mag carrier I'd like to carry. I'll be carrying a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .9mm and would prefer to carry the spare. I really like the AlienGear mag carrier since it can swap between OWB and IWB as well as how slim and low profile it looks. I also like the Neomag concept, but it seems expensive for what it is. I'm just curious what others would recommend and or who owns either and can share some advice. Thanks! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2o71RHB

I met someone who is vehemently against anyone using firearms on people, even if they're trying to kill you. Guns ok for Outdoors/sport/wildlife only...

So I am stuck in a 3 day training program for my company. I tried making small talk with some people from other divisions (nobody knew eachother).I got talking about concealed carry and this woman said she grew up hunting and handling firearms for protection against bears. She said she's totally against anyone using guns outside of a wilderness/animal application. She also said she does competitive air rifle stuff (is that the right term? I can't remember what she said. Whatever those non-gunpowder air guns are).Sorry this is long. So long story short we were chatting as strangers/new temporary acquaintances and out of nowhere the conversation turned morbid and depressing (regarding how dangerous it can get in America and using CCW for protection.)This woman seemed to be stamping her foot down and hating on me for even thinking of carrying a gun to protect myself. There were about 6 people at the table (lunch chat) and it became silent and people started walking away. Very awkward. And now this woman gives me dirty looks and refused to even say goodbye or give a head nod acknowledgement as we passed eachother in the hallway (once we were all leaving for the day). And I will likely be assigned to her group/table later in training.what the fuck. This girl's entire family owns guns up the wazoo, she grew up with them, using them at a young age in case her father got bear mauled and she had to take over the gun.But just absolutely hating me, this perfect stranger in the company, for innocently small talking about my desire to ccw for personal self protection.what the fuck. I got the impression that she actually thinks using a gun against a human, for any reason (even self defense if someone's trying to murder her) is wrong. But shooting animals is totally ok.what the fuck's going on?god i am dreading tomorrow. not even gonna look at her. just complete ignore. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2ogAzvk
