Need a new carry gun
So recently I found out Glock doesn't have a external safety. I used to love everything thing about them and never paid to much attention to the safety, and now I really don't like them anymore for the reason I might shoot myself. I need a new carry gun. Something in 9mm and high capacity. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/294nJaJ

Question about getting a CCW in San Bernardino, CA.
EDIT: This has been sufficiently answered for me. Looks like CCW will have to continue to wait for me. I don't plan on lying or breaking any laws just to get one. Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate it.Hi everyone. Hopefully this is a better place to post this instead of the CalGuns sub. I'm looking into getting a CCW but I'm not sure where to start. I'm currently living in Orange County, but will be moving in the coming weeks. I'm headed back to Los Angeles and we all know there's no chance of getting one there. My question is: My mother lives in San Bernardino. Is there some way I can use her address to obtain one? I'm not talking anything illegal here. What I mean is, to get one using her address, do I actually have to live there or can I do some sort of "dual-residency" or something like that? If that is possible, what would i have to do? Have an utility in my name? Have her address on my license? Etc. Also, about how long does the CCW process in San Bernardino take and how much am I looking at to spend? Thanks.(Sorry if this is too rambling or doesn't make sense. I'm on mobile. Hopefully itb does. Feel free to have my clarify anything if needed. I appreciate any and all feedback!) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/298I5SW
Just received my StealthGear IWB Mini. First impressions are pretty good.
Someone asked if I could upload some photos of the Mini with a Shield so here's that: http://ift.tt/298HX5E've worn this for maybe 5 hours now so impressions are pretty new but for what it's worth I really like it. I had a really cheap holster from Cabela's before this so literally anything would have been a step up, but I really think this one is going to work out for me. What I'm most surprised about is how comfortable it is, I carry at about the 3 o'clock and I can tell that I'll end up forgetting it's there once I'm used to it. Granted, I haven't had much experience with quality holsters, but comfortable is comfortable. Conceals much better than my previous holster as well, the only time it prints is when I lean over to sit down or pick up something down low and even then I'm told by my girlfriend it's too faint to even notice. I'm on track to lose some weight so that might sort itself out.Overall I'm very happy with it, I don't really have any complaints at all. Just thought I'd share. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29ecJgn

Car safe options and empty holster question.
So I have a child who is getting to the age of being able to go to and enjoy places like the zoo and children's museums, which are all posted as no carry zones. Since I am law a bidding citizen I will not be violating these areas but I don't want to leave my gun at home since most these places are surrounded by less than nice areas. My plan is to leave my gun in the car and carry a empty holster while in these places and then arm myself again once I'm in my car, which is legal here. I've never had to think about this till now so I figured I'd get some advice from you guys.Should I get a safe for my car and if so what suggestions do you have? Will carrying an empty holster increase the risk of the shell cracking or warping under the pressure of my belt or am I not giving my holster enough credit? Holster is a crossbreed super tuck. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/293ydr9
Idaho enhanced permit
I submitted my Idaho enhanced permit on April 1st. I have called a couple of times during the last 90 days to check the status of my permit and they have only been able to tell me that it hasn't came back to my sheriff's department. Today marks day 90 and I called and it still has not came back. The ladies in the office pretty much blew it off and told me they emailed the state but I'd just have to continue waiting until it came back. I asked to speak with the sheriff and was told he was unavailable but would call me back. The state statute in the link provided gives the sheriff 90 days from the date of application to issue the permit. How do I proceed? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29gtesY
What really pisses me off about the media
I've seen a few posts today about the hero that saved several people's lives in South Carolina at a nightclub after he drew his weapon on a threat to society. The key word in this statement is "few". The reason being is, what would've happened had this law abiding concealed carrier had not had his weapon because his rights were taken away? The media would've gone apeshit and the CRIMINAL would have taken over All media. How much bullshit is that? That a guy who legally defends himself and others from a devastating situation doesn't take over the media, but yet whenever a guy goes into nightclub in Florida and opens fire injuring or killing 100 peoples he media takes the story by storm.IMHO the media is just as big of a threat to our country as the government nowadays. They go after the story that will get more publicity rather than the story of a true hero. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29glQgZ

S&W Shield 40, need advice and help.
I'm new to concealed carry and have just purchased my first pistol for that purpose. (I already had the Concealed carry permit.) The Smith and Wesson Shield 40, and now I'm trying to figure out the best carry position as well as a good holster for it. Please give me advice on positions you found good for concealing it, as well as holsters. I'm a 140lb 5'9" Male. I have been considered the small of my back but haven't seen much holsters for it and am unsure of how concealed that would be. Thank you for your help! Fitting of Stealthgear Mini IWB
I just got my first Stealthgear Mini IWB in the mail. Since I've never worn an IWB holster before, I was confused with how it fit so I thought I'd ask to figure out if its normal or not.I'll go by position:3 - Unwearable. It doesn't conform to my side at all so the entire holster stays straight on my side and sticks out like a sore thumb.4 - This was my target wearing position. However, I found that the holster again did not conform to my body. In this case, it showed in the form of a two-finger gap between my back (spine) and my pants. Is that gap normal for an IWB holster?5 - The clip was outside of my back pant loop, but there was still a two-finger gap between my back and pants. No bend at all in the holster.6 - This is the only position I could get this holster to lay against my body completely with no extra gaps.I'm just wandering if I had bad expectations on how this thing would fit, or if it's actually fitting improperly. Thanks for the help! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/295jocx
Who carries with a TLR-6?
Who here carries with a TLR-6, and on which gun? How do you like it? Does it feel noticeably any heavier or more cumbersome? S&W Shield vs Springfield XD SC Comparison
I know there are quite a few of you out there that carry a shield. I recently had the chance to handle a Springfield XD Subcompact Mod 2 at a local gun show and decided to purchase one. I was surprised at how close it was to the size of my S&W Shield. I love the Shield, just not crazy about the capacity. I took a bunch of pictures comparing the two. The flush magazine on the XD is 13 rounds. The gun also comes with an extended magazine and grip spacer that holds 16. Both guns had full magazines loaded with Liberty Ammunition, Civil Defense rounds. They are only 50 grain, so keep that in mind when comparing the weight differences.I've been carrying the XD for about a week now. I find it more comfortable to shoot, and the little bit of added weight is barely noticeable.http://ift.tt/294BLtl via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29de59R

Things got put into perspective today...
Today put some things into perspective for me. My coworker Andrew was working in the back when he heard the back door rattle. Someone was trying to open the door. He got our attention and we listened at the door for a minute, someone was deffanatly at the door, aggressively muttering and coughing... and they wernt leaving...Rod, our salesman, and I snuck out the side door and peaked around back (there was a chain link fence, otherwise we wouldn't have gone out) there was a large, raggedy man standing at the door taking hit after hit from a meth pipe... we went back inside and called 911 immediately. The cops came and we could hear them confront him (he had still been trying to open the door)...What gets me... is that I was the last person through that door. Not but maybe 1½ earlier for lunch... if it wasn't habit for me to lock the door, a large meth-addict would have been in our office before anyone could do anything about it...I am very glad that I locked the door as I do every day, I am very glad that PD responded as quick as they did, I am very glad that nobody got hurt, I am glad that my boss is a Black-belt and that I know some basic Krav Maga. But most importantly, I am very glad that I had my CCW on my side, BUT didn't have to use it...Every day that everyone walks away alive is a good day, but I'm not going to let people like this guy decide that for me. Self defence is so important, and today was a great remember of that.Stay safe everyone. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/296F7BS

Non resident Florida permit
So I hit the 90 day mark (which is how long the state has to respond to your permit)waiting for my non resident florida permit. I joined the chat room to see what the deal was and this is the message i recieved ...Thank you. We received your application on March 14, 2016. Your fingerprint results required additional review from our verification section. You are currently awaiting them to review the fingerprint results. The process is currently taking between 120-150 days for our verification section to review the fingerprint results.I dont understand how finger prints need further review, they were taken at the county jail , I sent in a copy of my minnesota carry permit and all other required information, this just seems like another way to hold up citizens from legally carrying guns. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/294ebOs

Almost traded my G43 for a G26 today
I found a local Georgia / Atlanta forum post from a guy who wanted to trade his nearly new G26 for a G43. I had posted a while back about trying to carry a double stack, and I thought hey, the G26 gives me realistically the smallest step up to a double stack if I want to try it out. Luckily I was able to borrow a friend's G26 carry setup and shoot the 2 at the range today before making up my mind... I'll be staying with my G43. With the clothes I wear, the 26 does print on me IWB, otherwise I probably would have traded, and I could already see myself making excuses not to carry it as I was putting my friend's holster on. I love the versatility the G26 offers as a home defense gun, but in this age of such comfortable single stacks, its really hard for me to justify going from an invisible gun (on me) to one that prints (on me) to get 10+1 (what it would be carried with) vs 7+1 in my 43 for carry... It's crazy how small the numerical differences are between the 2, yet how drastically different they are to carry, for my body type at least. Don't get me wrong, the G26 is a great gun, certainly a more versatile carry weapon, just after a few months of shooting my G43, I shot it just as well if not better. In the end, I think I quelled my capacity / shootability woes at the range today and will be sticking with a single stack. A P938 is not out of the question however ;) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/294QTJv
Down to 6 choices for Custom Leather OWB holster. Help?
So I've narrowed my choices for a custom leather OWB holster. I've searched the reddits for info, but I can't find all the information I like, so I'll ask a couple questions and provide links to my choices.I carry a Kimber Custom II (why all the hate on Kimber? I'ev got 1,000 rounds through it and no problems at all) full size in a Galco Kingtuk IWB. I'm getting sick of it so that's why I'm going OWB. So that's for reference. My questions/curiosities relate build quality, if anyone has experience with these holsters, cant positions, and lasting quality. I carry at 3 o'clock. I do a little bit of sitting during the day, but mostly just while driving to and from work. 75% of my carry is while standing. I'm thinking a cant of 10 degrees would be good. Insight? I live in Texas, open carry is legal with a license, so I'm not at all concerned if the bottom of the holster is showing underneath a shirt. Feel free to link to other threads or write as little as possible. It could be quite a bit of money I'm spending here, so I want to choose wisely.Links in descending order of desire. I think.1) http://ift.tt/299GOxy'd want the Combat holster in Elephant Vintage Bark.2) http://ift.tt/294QvL5) http://ift.tt/299GZcg'd want the Saddle Tension but in the Elephant Brown with body shield. If yall haven't already, go watch his videos on youtube about holster making. He is amazing. So much TLC is his stuff.4) http://ift.tt/294QOVT'd want the 1911 Elephant pancake style holster.5) http://ift.tt/299GJdc) http://ift.tt/294QUge. Those are my choices. should i even care about the printing?
I'm currently going through the licensing process in Texas. My carry weapon will be a Smith and Wesson Model 59. Unfortunately i most places don't carry holsters for my model and as a broke college student, I can't afford an IWB holster. My current holster is OWB and is rather bulky causing me to print like a beacon. There is no doubt that there is a gun under my shirt when I carry. Once licensed in Texas, you can carry open or concealed so should I even care about the printing? I still plan on "concealed" carrying just so that my gun can't be snatched easily, but I don't really care if people know I have it.P.S. I work outside and it's typically over 100 degrees F here so I'm NOT going to wear more bulky clothing. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2938aCK

I'm in Texas and I applied to get my CHL. After everything was done they sent me a file saying they needed more information from a court case in 2011 when I got caught with weed and stupidly admitted to dealing. Anyone else carry a S&W Airweight .38 special?
I got my CPL last week and have been using the Airweight as my daily carry firearm. It's very concealable and reliable. However, obviously it doesn't have the greatest capacity (only holds 5 rounds) and is harder to reload than a semi auto. My other option at the moment is a .380 (made by some French manufacturer) and it holds 7 or 8 but I don't like how it shoots and the rounds are weak for a carry gun.You guys think the .38 special is a good option or should I be looking for something with a bigger magazine? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29cWWfd
Shower thoughts on carry necessities.
TL;DR: I was thinking about how much I like my holster and belt.I was recently thinking about what I would consider my top CCW necessities and thought I'd share with the void. I've been carrying for a few years now, and have learned a couple things in the process about having the right gear to go with your gun.First is a good holster. Obviously. That's a subject that's been beaten to death here: having a good holster that fits you and your gun well is absolutely necessary. I like the hybrid leather/kydex style like what Alien Gear and CrossBreed make, and I made my own out of some leather I had and a kydex sheet I bought locally, and molded it to fit my Glock 19 equipped with a TLR 3. I also ordered a set of standard clips from Alien Gear since all the shops around me only carry metal clips that have sharp corners and put holes in my shirts. The second piece of gear I think is an absolute necessity is a proper carry belt. This is one I finally discovered for myself. I had heard that a good carry belt made all the difference in the world, but I didn't really believe it. After all, I never had any problems with my old floppy leather belt. But I did notice that every time I stood up, I'd have to readjust my holster placement. And I felt like I had to cinch down my belt super tight to keep my gun from pulling my pants down. Then for graduation I got a Magpul Tejas belt and my entire universe changed. I didn't realize just how much a stiff belt would help not just with comfort, but concealment. After switching to the Tejas, I have never once felt like I was printing. And I don't think it's just in my head, I think the stiff belt is able to keep the gun tucked in closer to my body. This was a great discovery in time for summer when I wear light shorts and a thin T-shirt all the time.Anyway, just thought I'd add another $0.02 to the pot here. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29cxNRT
Question regarding moving to a different state
I currently live in AZ and am a CCW permit holder. I'm going to be moving to MS soon and was wondering about laws surrounding travel and reciprocity. When I get to MS will i need to reapply and get a permit there or will my current permit be good until expiration? Also, as far as I know I'll be traveling through states thay recognize AZ CCW permits. Any resources or information is much appreciated and more information can be given as needed. Thank you in advanced.Edit: I was also reading up on some things regarding travelling through different states and came across the DPS website for AZ. It talked about having a written agreement with 2 of the states I'm travelling though. This doesn't mean I need an agreement right? Just that the states have an agreement amongst themselves, well that's the way I interpreted it. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/29leKDP

Minnesota Transport Question?
I have an Idaho concealed carry and I'm on my way to Michigan where my CCW is honored. I plan to fly and check the gun in my bag. The problem is that I plan to spend a day in MN where my permit is not honored. If I retrieve my suitcase with the gun in it in MN, does that cause any legal problems for me?
