Vedder Lighttuck vs Concealment Express

This question comes up all the time on this sub so I thought I would write a quick review of these two holsters and post some photos so people can see. Both holsters are very similar. They are both 100% kydex holsters that are designed to be worn IWB. The price point is quite different. The Vedder sells for $59.99 (but they have a 20% off deal right now) and the Concealment Express sells for $39.99 (I think they normally do 15% off if you spend $100)I guess the one thing you'll have to ask yourself and the thing I'm still asking myself is if the Vedder is worth spending an extra $20 on.Anyways, on to the review.See the holsters here, lined up. I've got a Vedder for a Glock 19 and Steyr M9. I've got a CE for my Shield Plus and Beretta APX.https://ift.tt/3o7a0se a distance, the holsters look basically the same. The main difference is the clip. The clip on the Vedder is metal and the attach point is much lower on the holster. The clip on the CE is kydex/plastic and sits higher up.Vedder: https://ift.tt/3GTuaih https://ift.tt/3EUvDTI there is nothing wrong with the clips on the CE holsters, I definitely prefer the metal clip on the Vedder. It also is thinner and it feels more secure. One thing I do like better about the CE holsters is they seem to cover the mag release better. The Vedder holster for my Steyr doesn't cover the mag release at all. I don't think this is a huge deal because the holster being thicker than the mag release will prevent you from accidentally pressing it.Vedder: https://ift.tt/301IyUk https://ift.tt/2ZYGY5E huge perk of the Vedder is that the muzzle area is rounded off and the CE holster is not. I have seen some older CE holsters that were very crudely molded around the muzzle area. Mine were purchased in summer 2020 and are definitely better than other photos I've seen. I have to say, the Vedder having a rounded muzzle area makes the holster much more comfortable to wear. It slides in easily into your pants whereas the CE holster sometimes gets hung up on jean stitching.Vedder Glock 19: https://ift.tt/3GTwohs muzzles: https://ift.tt/3CTQWUy Shield: https://ift.tt/3mM3SpX Shield 2: https://ift.tt/3o65Yk4 about retention: Both holsters have screws for adjusting the retention. The Vedder has a single screw and the CE holster has two screws. I find that the retention on my Vedder holsters was perfect out of the box. The retention on my CE Shield holster out of the box was WAY too tight. Trying to unholster the weapon sometimes felt like I was going to rip the holster out of my pants. Loosening the screw helped but the holster fit and retention still doesn't feel as good as the Vedder.Overall, I think both holsters are decent and I use them both with no worries. Is the Vedder worth an extra $20 over the Concealment Express holster? Maybe is my answer to that. For a smaller gun like the Shield, I don't think it matters much. If you just want a cheaper holster for a gun that you don't carry a lot, then I think the Concealment Express is fine. But if you want a holster for a larger gun or for a gun that you carry a lot, I think it's worth spending the extra $20 for the simple reason that there are some minor complaints about the Concealment Express holster but absolutely none about the Vedder. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3bPsXKi
