i saw someone mention today on a different post that shining a pistol mounted light at someone in the dark and finding out after you pointed a gun at them that they're not a threat, is borderline guaranteed to get you in trouble, i assume for brandishing. when i got the light my first thought was that, to see if the thing you perceive as a threat actually is, but this has made me reconsider how unwise that is. now i understand why people carry a separate flashlight, which i might start doing if i can find a comfortable way to do it.i've been looking for a new holster because i'm just doing pocket carry at work (i wear overalls at work so there is no waistband) and then IWB under some shorts with the drawstring tightened which works ok on my off days or if i take off my overalls after work (i wear athletic shorts underneath them). i have been using a blackhawk pocket holster and it functions fine, but a concern i've had since i got it is that since it's a soft holster, if i leave the thumb safety off then i could lean against a pocket-height corner at work, which there are many of, and it could depress the trigger through my pants and the holster, so i've kept the thumb safety on. i don't like this and i think i should be using a hard holster that would prevent that from happening and i could have the thumb safety off, because that's the point of a holster. at best, the only thing my holster has been doing when it's in my pocket, is preventing my gun from wearing out the fabric that my pockets are made of.what i would like to do is get either a leather or kydex iwb holster and keep it in my backpack or car for when i switch to iwb, and use a kydex pocket locker holster for pocket carry, but everything i find is for stock configuration without a flashlight and i'm seriously thinking now that having functional optimal holsters is more important than having a light that could be more of a liability than help if i was in a situation where i would need a light while defending myself.edit: also, i know that iwb holsters with a clip generally need a belt which i don't wear, but i found a nice leather iwb holster today at a local store and i tried it in the waistband of my athletic shorts and it hooked in very nicely. when i tried to remove it, it was actually a bit of a challenge to remove, so while clips generally need a belt, there are clips that don't. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/31RK7VX
