My carry class did not include proficiency training. We went straight to the range and shot, everyone received "pass" even though most targets looked like they were blasted with buckshot from 20 yds. Then to the classroom, where the instructor told the class every item that would be on the test, along with "the answer on this one is A" for a commonly missed question.Texas law (see below) states you must receive proficiency training AND shoot to show proficiency, but the instructor stated that by registering for class you were promising you were already proficient.Sec. 411.188. HANDGUN PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT. (a) The director by rule shall establish minimum standards for handgun proficiency and shall develop a course to teach handgun proficiency and examinations to measure handgun proficiency. The course to teach handgun proficiency is required for each person who seeks to obtain a license and must contain training sessions divided into two parts. One part of the course must be classroom instruction and the other part must be range instruction and an actual demonstration by the applicant of the applicant's ability to safely and proficiently use a handgun.Scares the hell out of me to know some of the folks in that class are going to walk around armed... via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3jTQZ8R
