Review: Midway USA Brand "Tactical Pants"; a pocket carry guys dream

So we jokingly say; as we watch would be Oper8ors Oper8 in their day to day life that you can always spot someone who is armed by their 5.11 Brand gear.Taking this to heart I try not to Oper8 too hard on a daily basis and opted for a pair of Midway USA Brand "Tactical Pants" when selecting a replacement for a pair of worn out Vertx pants.https://ift.tt/2wWeCI5 have to say; as someone who has owned/owns Vertx; Tru Spec, 5.11 and Propper brand "Tactical" style pants the Midway USA product has all but Vertx beat in most areas.First of all Fit: The Midway USA Brand Tactical Pants fit loose; something I personally like in a pair of pants but some high speed low drag Oper8ors may dislike as many Oper8ors seem to prefer a tighter fit.As a taller guy I am always worried about how the crotch rides and I must say buying a pair of 44/34 pants and being 6'7 they ride perfect. The crotch is not too high ; which on some pants in the past has resulted in the "Thong" effect , but around "the boys". Nor is the crotch too low which might otherwise impact flexibility.Construction: The stitching seems very well done and the materials feel high quality. I would grade the stitching and materials thus far as second to none but the Vertx pants I own. The belt loops are oversized to pass a 1.75" or larger belt and are extra "wide" for added strength/support.One more feature; the front/right most belt loop has a small plastic D-Ring suspended below it; if you typically keep your keys on a chain or might seek a place to hook a lanyard for retention of some equipment this is perfect.Storage: And now we come to it; these pants are the dream of anyone who loves pocket carry or takes "EDC" item carry to the extreme. Both "hip" pockets are over-sized though not obnoxiously so. One can easily pocket carry a Glock 26 sized firearm or smaller. Each hip pocket also has an inner "Magazine" pocket; roughly the perfect size for fitting a Glock 19 Magazine or small flashlight. No more worries over spare mag storage; no more obnoxious rolling around of your EDC flashlight or multi-tool.I can easily fit a Benchmade Griptilian; Small flashlight and a Glock 19 magazine in one pocket without any discomfort or "bulging'.Each "Cargo" area pocket is spacious with a two button "Double" flap arrangment. There is an over/outer flap which covers the pocket and prevents the ingress of any dirt, sand , etc and an inner "flap" which contains the buttons. Again; some people may prefer high speed/low drag Velcro over buttons; personally I prefer the buttons. Each of these cargo pockets can easily hold several pistol magazines or a couple of protruding rifle magazines plus any other gear you may desire to carry.Longevity: I have only had these pants for two weeks so I can't say how well they hold up over the course of a year but thus far I have washed them three times and not noticed any loose stitching or obvious color fading; something I cannot say of all the other brands I own or have owned. In Conclusion: Midway USA offers a fine set of Tactical Pants for someone who does not want to wear the Typical Oper8or brand tactical pants and requires an idea platform for storage of tools on a day to day basis or a platform for pocket carry or to the paintball range where most Oper8ors congregate. If I was still a technician in the field I would love these pants for the storage of various tools.I prefer the material of my Vertx pants over the Midway material and I feel the stitching is a hair neater; however the Midway USA brand pants do offer more storage and the inner "magazine' pocket present in both hip pockets is a somewhat unique and utilitarian addition. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2NZoZkJ
