I will moving from Georgia to upstate New York. Obviously this is a complete paradigm shift regarding gun laws, and navigating all the legislative literature online has been more confusing than helpful. If I purchased a pistol in GA with a mag capacity of 15 rounds, I understand that I have to buy modded magazines that limit the capacity to 10 and have to also register it with the county sheriff. My question is whether or not I can bring the pistol with me on the move and then get it registered, or do I have to take preemptive actions to ensure that I am abiding by the law? I'm also interested in purchasing a Glock 43 before I leave Georgia and was wondering if it would even be worth the trouble.
