Discussion about police acting off duty, far beyond the scope of the law

Let’s not confuse this for a cop bashing thread. It’s intended to be a reasonable discussion about a rare occurrence. There are a long list of instances where a small sample of police use the power of the badge and uniform to abuse neighbors, family, and at times even strangers.Recently we have seen, in the news: A police officer forced entry into a neighbors apartment and shot him, a police officer forced entry into a neighbors house and unlawfully arrested him over a civil dispute, and more generally raids on the wrong addresses. If these citizens reasonably defended themselves with their own firearms what would the outcome be?If a complete stranger pulls a gun on you, do you have to worry about if they are an officer? What if you know they are an officer but they are clearly unhinged, or intoxicated? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2QvHuza
