Red dot / Reflex sights installation
I am thinking eventually get me and install one of those electronic sights. Currently I have a gun (does not matter which, it may change) that has a standard Novak rear sight cut. I think the base is '.342. The top of the slide is flat (no curvature, more or less like Glock) and it does not have this rear side elevation like in some Novak notches. So did anybody install a red dot on a set up like this? How did you do that? With an adapter or not? If so, what kind of the adapter? Actually the more info the better - I can sift :) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2lsiomP
Does carrying a revolver with target sights degrade them or affect accuracy?
I have a S&W 686 that I would like to carry every once in a while, but I’ve heard people say that the target sights will get bumped and be less reliable after carrying. Have you had any issues with this? Do you carry a gun with target sights? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2q794cO
If involved in a good shoot in California, are you protected from Civil Suit? What states honor this?
As the title states, I am curious if in the state of california you are protected from civil suit if the shooting is found to be a good shoot and charges are not pressed? Also, as my wife and I are considering moving soon, what states have this as law? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CvyVxK
What are your CCW related goals for 2018? What did you accomplish in 2017?
I was just thinking about this in terms of goals, not as a New Year's resolution. What do you want to accomplish, reinforce, or do differently in 2018?My GOALS:1) Take another defensive firearms course - I know of a great training facility over the border in OH (Alliance PD's range) that hosts great training. I will plan for one this year, a more advanced one than 2017, and following that, force on force.2) Start training in martial arts with others again, even if it's only a couple of times a month.3) Take others to the range. There are 3 or 4 guys that have expressed interest in learning or getting better at defensive shooting skills and tactics - I need to take them seriously and bring them to the range.4) Stay the course in my diet and exercise habits - losing weight, getting more fit, and being better able to handle the stress and challenges of life.2017 Accomplishments:1) Carried constantly - only restricted/non-reciprical states stopped me from carrying everywhere, every day, including at home.2) Helped my son become a concealed carrier - a responsible one. He's 21 and seems to be on his way to being able to be responsible for his own safety.3) Converted one friend/neighbor to becoming a concealed carrier.4) Took two classes - learned a lot and put it into action. How about you? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2EmoGw5
How the heck do you get rid of your nerves carrying appendix?
I haven't been carrying a appendix for long. I used to carry around 4:00. While appendix is a bit less comfortable, it's a lot more concealing for me.As bad as it is, I haven't been carrying one in the chamber(I keep the extra round in my pocket). I'll be sure the trigger is also foreword prior to holstering. I guess I've been "practicing" to see if I'll have any negligent discharges with my current technique and habits. It's been a few weeks. So far, negative.I'm just mostly scared when bending or sitting. The end just jabs right into my dick/nut/femoral artery. It IS a full kydex holster. Vedder Lighttuck to be exact.Did you just dive right in or did you have a process? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2ls5nJI

Need help deciding on service pistol.
I alternate conceal carrying a Glock 26 and 19 (both gen 4) IWB 3 o’clock on my personal time.I open carry for my employer who is offering to buy me a service pistol, no strings attached. So my face lit up like a kid in a candy store but I can’t decide. I want some suggestions as I have to let them know Tuesday.I wanted a glock 17 however, I already have the 26 and 19 and adding a 17 doesn’t make sense to me. I can just use the 19. I wanted something different. Also looking at the Sig P320, Walther PPQ, S&W MP2.0 but I need more suggestions!!!I am in a location where I do not have access to handle these pistols in person. No wheel guns per company policy.Hammer or striker fired is ok.i have reviewed the sidebar and FAQs.Thanks everyone, you have no idea how much this will help!! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CoJgxH

Compact Pistol Lights
I'm looking for an extremely compact pistol light that won't significantly contribute to bulkiness in a holster for an FNS 9c, which has a standard rail. I would like something in a similar size to the streamlight TLR6 but they don't make a version compatible with the FNS9c. Does anyone have any experience with/recommendations for something that would fit that bill? A light/laser combo would be preferred but is not a firm requirement. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CsxS1y
Flying with a gun from TN to FL, a quick recap?
I’m Ana avid gun enthusiast and I’ve had my CCW for a while now, but I’ve never flown with a firearm. So I just want to double check with anyone that has experience.I will use a double locking case with non TSA locks, and inside I’ll have my empty G19, 2 empty magazines, and a small box of ammunition that I’ll tape up so it doesn’t come apart.I’m flying American which has only one rule: no loaded magazines. Noted.I’ll just declare it at the ticket counter, and check it inside of a large suitcase. I will cable lock the gun case to the internal frame of the suitcase so it can’t get separated by anyone sketchy.Am I missing anything? Last I checked, FL will honor my TN permit. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2lu6o3b
Forcibly removed from vehicle
Assume that we are under Texan law. For the scenarios I would like to know at what point would you be able to draw. Also answer for both nighttime as well as daytime if possible. Scenario 1: You are sitting at a stop light awaiting green. A man approaches from the driver's side of the vehicle no weapons are visible; he opens the door and without verbal communication he begins to pull you from the vehicle. Scenario 2: Sitting at a stop light awaiting green. Man approaches with no weapon, opens the door; but he makes a verbal statement or request "I'm taking this car" or "Yo give me your car"; he then begins to pull you from the vehicle. Scenario 3: Sitting at a stop light awaiting green. Man approaches with a visible weapon and opens the vehicle door making a verbal statement that he intends to take it while also attempting to remove you. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CdXulL

Need to find a carry gun for a tough situation
The "social situation" around the building I do maintenance for has deteriorated pretty severely, so its time I start thinking about carrying a gun. Being a maintenance worker, I'm going to need something that can get banged around plenty and won't catch on things because I move around and have to crawl through things and spaces plenty. Maybe it lives in a shoulder holster, maybe in a flapped OWB holster, maybe IWB. Haven't gotten that far. Now, the hitch is, I'm in an open-carry state, but I work in and around a very liberal set, so I need something that completely lacks the "black gun/gangster Glock" factor, because its certainly going to be seen because I work indoors and out year round with everything from a heavy coat down to a t-shirt. I've been looking at revolvers of all kinds, but over-penetration is also a concern being in a city, so I'm hesitant to get into the .357 magnum game. That, and I can't seem to find anything that doesn't have a rear target sight, and I'm worried that that just wouldn't hold up to the sort of knocking around the gun might see.So what are some options that I might have been missing? My budget is ~$1k, so I feel like in 2017/8 I should be able to find something that fits the bill, even used, but I just keep coming up empty handed. Thanks all. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zOiTMg

Concealed carry options for women
My wife is considering carrying concealed, she has experience shooting, just not carrying on person. She’s already stated she doesn’t want to carry in her purse, which is a big relief. I’m trying to convince her that carry on her hip with a good belt and holster is the best option, but she’s leaning more towards the options like those found on Dene Adams’ website. These are tailored more specifically to women.Does anyone have any good resources we can check out as far as possible holsters and practical applications for women in defensive gun scenarios? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zOnX3l
"Pocket gun" on your belt IWB
Does anyone carry something like an LCP on your belt? It disappears and is insanely comfortable, but I feel like I might as well be carrying my 9mm shield at that point. I don't like pocket carrying at all because my wallet stays in my front pocket and I can't draw nearly as reliably. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CbGzQN

Conflicting information on airline travel with a pistol. Help please?
I've seen it discussed here and elsewhere, the locked case for the pistol is supposed to have a key or combination lock that is only openable by the owner. But, then on United's Website, I see something about a TSA lock."Firearms must be packed in a hard-sided container with a lock. The container must be locked at the time of acceptance by United Airlines and the key or combination must remain in the customer's possession. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can easily be opened will not be accepted for travel. Using a TSA-approved lock can help speed up the security screening process for firearms."I guess I plan on taking both types of locks so I can change if needed. But, why should TSA be able to open my gun case? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2CalshU
Drinking vs. Carrying
I work in the audio/video side of the entertainment industry. Carrying while transporting a truck full thousands of $$ of equipment is reassuring especially some of these parts of La and surrounding areas. The part I am curious about what others do and for those who want to be completely honest.. when we tour and go from hotel to hotel, sometimes it’s hard to not sit down with the rest of the gang and have a sip.. but the canon is on the belt.Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about incidents or laws regarding alcohol? If I drink one single beer after a long day and load out, and then during transit something awful happens and i have to defend myself, am i screwed or is the case botched because i drank one damn beer?I would love any feedback. I don’t have a drinking problem by the way hahaha via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zPk26s
Website says my license is Active, how long until card in hand?
I am from Illinois. I applied with prints on 11/17/17. The website says my license is Active since 12/22/17. And lists the number and expiration date of the card. Is OWB carry hard to conceal?
I live in Illinois and i'm planning on getting my CCW soon. I'm 5'10'' and around 190lbs. I want to carry OWB because the way i like to wear my jeans dosent allow for IWB and I want the every day comfort of OWB. In the summer I just wear a regular T-shirt and I'm a little concerned about printing. Does anyone else only OWB carry and how do you like it? What are the down sides of carrying this way and are there any advantages? Is printing a concern with a pancake style kydex holster? Thanks for your help. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2Cnb59u

Help choosing a dressy belt
I've been trying to choose a belt and I think I've narrowed it down to two. I've read some good reviews for the Daltech SuperBio and I think the belts look great and are a good price. Wife asked me a question earlier and thought you all might have an answer.
My wife has a Kentucky CCDW, she asked a question in regards to having a couple drinks with the girls after work. Obviously she cannot carry if she has consumed alcohol, could she lock her gun in a pistol safe under her seat, unloaded with ammo separate and drive home? So long as she is under the legal limit, of course, I'm talking one or two drinks over a couple hour period, not getting white girl wasted. I know it's not a good idea to mix alcohol at any level and firearms, and instructed her to leave her gun at home that day if she plans on meeting up with the girls after work, so I guess it's more of a hypothetical question, but curiosity is still piqued. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2li2ZW5

Took my new LCP2 to the range today
Got a LCP2 last week for Christmas, wanted an original LCP but all the local shops were out of stock, handled the 2nd gen and liked it. Picked it up for $251.99. Went to the range today, fired 100 rounds of WWB and 50 rounds of Hornady Custom HP. All ran well with no issues, I honestly thought it would be more snappy to shoot. My trigger finger was rubbing the trigger guard a little, but other than that it was honestly a pleasant gun to shoot. Won’t be my full time CCW, have my Kimber that I will carry everyday, and use the Ruger as a deep concealment and for when I’m hanging at the house in running pants and run to the store. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zJEe9q
Any experience with FNH?
I steered away from the single stack route and was considering a G26 but the FNS 9C is on my radar. There arent a lot of ranges that rent a big selection of guns around here so I cant shoot one.But I am on the verge of putting down a downpayment on an FNS 9c on Buds.Thoughts? Opinions?I like that its American made, looks like its machined very well, and I like the included mags (one flush 12 rd, one extended pinky 12 rd and one 17 rd with grip sleeve) via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2Dttgrh

Just took my LTC class (TX)
So I just finished up the classroom and shooting portion for my LTC today.Little backstory on me real quick. I’m 21, grew up around guns and been shooting pistols for the better part of 10-12 years. Also raised by a parent that was a Marine so I’ve had safety drilled into my head a million time. I’ve also sat through an LTC class when I was younger for my dad cause I was bored so I knew going in how easy it is.Well today just reconfirmed how easy it was. I swear I could have passed that written test without attending the 4 hours but what can you do. And the shooting portion is super easy if you shoot semi regularly. But in my group today I got flagged twice by the gentleman to my right was going to say something my I just made sure to keep my eye on him. Secondly I almost got flagged by the damned instructor and he also had us loading mags and preparing to load them while there where still IN FRONT of the firing line. Then to top it off there was another gentleman how had multiple issues with his gun, then he couldn’t figure out why he was ejecting bullets when he racked the slide (one in the chamber already) so he would drop the mag, reload it and insert it and rack the slide again, thus creating the same problem. He must have done this five separate times.Tl:dr I forgot how easy the LTC class actually was and also got a little scarred at the fact some of these people can now legally carry a gun. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2C4MirB
Thoughts on the clipdraw/trigger guard combo?
Hello, CCWers. I've been carrying a clipdraw and trigger guard holster (specifically the MIC) for half a year now with my G43 and I'm very happy with the results. It's very comfortable allows for great concealment since there's no added thickness. There is still retention since there's the clipdraw to keep it in place and the MIC completely covers and blocks the trigger. I just wanted to know your thoughts and opinions on this method of carry. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2zJj8rS

Advice on first ccw handgun
Hey Everyone!I was hoping some people with experience with these firearms as a daily carry can chime in on this thread.I am on the cusp of purchasing my first handgun I intend to ccw with.I have went to the range and tried out a few. I like the feel of them, but was wondering if there was one more highly recommended or if you have recommendations outside of the ones listed. So far I am between:Taurus 1911 45S&W M&P 45Springfield XD 45There were a few I was interested in that I didn't get to try yet such as the HK 45 and Sig Sauer p320.I am leaning more towards a 45 cal handgun and preferably full size since they fit better in my hand. I am also a bigger guy, so concealment is not an issue. If anyone has any input, it is greatly appreciated.Thank you! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2BQA1mo

Recommendations for upgrading my Shield's sights?
1.) Is it worth it? I can afford to spend some money, and I've already invested in an Apex trigger kit, a drop-in Blacklist match-grade barrel (threaded, in anticipation of future range fun), and a StealthGearUSA VentCore AIWB holster. I'm happy with the factory grips and mags. New sights seems like the last meaningful upgrade at my disposal. Agree?2.) Night sights, right? Tell me everything you know about their efficacy, best brands and models, etc. I know almost nothing about them, but keeping my gun slim and sleek is a priority. Send links if you got 'em. Any good deals right now?3.) I don't have any sight removal tools. Buy some, or have a gunsmith do it? Is it more rewarding or more frustrating to attempt it myself? Risk involved? Should I have the sights professionally aligned anyway when my Blacklist barrel arrives? I know it's just a drop-in, but still... I want my setup as close to perfect as possible. Let any error be attributable to human imperfection and train like mad, I say. Yeah?4.) Wildcard. I like math, motorcycles, and knitting. I love knowledgeable and friendly internet forums, porn, and Wikipedia because I think they embody the best aspects of a free and unregulated internet. Today I'm bored and lonely at work because most people have taken the week off. What's up with you? via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2C5m0pc
