Trying to fulfill the ridiculous requirement for a Illinois CCW, which is 16 hours of class time. To substitute for 8 of 16 hours, you can get an NRA basic Pistol certificate. They offer this course "online" for 60 dollars.What is not at all clear until after you fork over your money is that you still need a large of instruction time to get the certificate. It gets worse though.Very few people actually offer the instructor portion of this "blended" course, literally 2 people in all of Illinois, who are hours away from me. They charge more money then the cost of learning a CCW permit, like over 150 dollars, on top 60 dollars you already spent(you still need to pay for day 2). One of the two blended courses included 8 hours of in class instruction, the same amount of time as if you skipped the online portion.Basically got scammed out of 60 dollars by NRA. From a cost and time standpoint, I'm probably better of just eating the 60 dollars and doing a full 2 day ccw then completing this course I paid money for.
