LA County General Questions & Good Cause Statement

Hello,I'm looking to apply for my CCW in LA County, and just wanted to ask a few questions and for general guidance. Also, below is a draft of my good cause statement, and would like some feedback if possible.I've heard that you may need to apply to the specific city you're in 1st (through the LAPD for example) before applying with the LA County Sheriffs. Is this true, and if so, how can I find out if this applies to me?I'm completely new to CCW, I've only open carried. I own a Glock 21 Gen 4, and I'm assuming this is a pretty large firearm to carry concealed. Is the type of firearm owned by the applicant considered when applying for a CCW?What other general things can do to increase my chances of being approved?Good cause statement so far:" I am a [firefighter], currently assigned to [fire station in South Los Angeles] located at [FS address] Through my duty as a first-responder I have responded to numerous domestic & gang related violence incidents, 5150 holds & evaluations, as well as other calls involving Law Enforcement. I have received many threats of violence from individuals in custody, as well as had some take note of my name, badge number, and my Fire Station.Given today’s technology, it is quite easy to obtain someone’s name and personal information from a public report, cellphone video, social media, and possibly link it to an address or place of work. Furthermore, when responding with or without law enforcement, the general public often can’t distinguish the difference between Fire/EMS personnel and Law Enforcement; much of the public simply see a badge and a patch and associate the two. When traveling between stations when working overtime days, I have to transport all my bunker gear as well as personal items in my personally owned vehicle which could make me more of a target. I regularly work throughout the city, usually in areas with high rates of crime and violence, often arriving and departing late at night or early morning. While I will not be carrying a weapon while I am at work, because of these reasons above I believe I am at a greater risk than the general public. I have been a gun owner for over 10 years and currently serve in the U.S Marine Corps Reserves. I am proficient in safely handling firearms." via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/322vwUu
