Coworker stabbed nearly 20 times on their way to work. Currently trying to think of ways to keep my firearm with me to and from work.

I’m trying to think of ways to keep my handgun with me while at work or at least on the drive to and from here. I’ve normally not carried to work, but after what happened with a coworker, I’m definitely reconsidering that choice. In short, a coworker of mine was rammed by a car and very quickly stabbed nearly 20 times by the assailant. The artery in his neck was cut and he spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital. Luckily, he’s still alive.I normally carry when I’m in town or in places I “assume” something is more likely to happen. Well, considering this altercation took place somewhere I would consider relatively safe, I’ve decided I need to be able to carry everywhere I go. Which leads me into some issues.Where I work, I cannot carry. According to the employee handbook, it can be punished by termination of employment. Unfortunately, I cannot carry discreetly because my job requires me to move around a lot in a manufacturing setting where sometimes I’m on the ground or high up in the air. If I carried IWB, someone would notice if my shirt lifted up and then I’m at risk of losing my job.I’ve considered carrying in my car and locking my handgun up in a secure box when I arrive at work, but to my knowledge, this stabbing occurred all in under a minute from impact. There’s no way I could unlock that box that quickly if I needed it right outside of my car.I’m not really open to the idea of leaving a gun in the car in general. Car break-ins are relatively common around here. With all that, I’m hoping some of you guys may have some solutions for me. Or maybe I just need to practice my quick draw from a lock box or something. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2RhL30G
