Why you should (almost) NEVER get involved in 3rd party encounters

Here's an article by Greg Ellifritz about that very topic. Greg is long time police officer in Ohio and a pretty well known firearms trainer. I also took his knife class which was very informative and he teaches some well regarded medical classes as well. So, his advice on the topics of firearms, tactics, and defense should carry some weight.I posted this article because every time I see a discussion about intervening in 3rd party encounters there are always a few cowboys who, come hell or high water, feel it's their moral obligation to help anyone in distress. There are also more than a few folks who seem like they'd intervene only if was it very clear as to what was happening. I understand where that drive comes from but it's lacking in scope. So, thought experiment. You happen upon that scene. She's screaming "rape" and struggling with a guy in plain clothes who doesn't seem to be stopping. What would you do? Still think it's a good idea to intervene? For me, this is exhibit A as to why I would not get involved in a 3rd party encounter between strangers other than dialing 911. If it were a loved one then that's a different story. Food for thought. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2tfyWW1
