A couple weeks back I was at a Active Shooter Training where they ran us through scenarios where we had to think, act, and engage targets if appropriate. In the morning we talked through a number of things and one of them being “never modify your carry”.Well, I had put a Pyramid trigger but kept the stock springs. And a different slide lock on my Glock 43. Personally I didn’t think of this as really modifying it.We get to the move and shoot part. Instructor yells threat, I hustle to cover. Determine the target is a threat, draw, fire, shot goes off, malfunction. Slide is locked back. Tap, rack. Fire. Malfunction. Drop the mag, reload. Move to new cover. Fire, fire, malfunction. So, we call the drill right then. Instructor says “let me see your pistol”. Immediately says “this is not the stock trigger. And this slide lock isn’t stock either. You need to pull this shit off here. You willing to bet your life on this?”I hadn’t had any malfunctions at the range. So I was surprised I did in the course. Regardless, it went back to stock that night. So, lesson learned. And I got to be the poster child for the rest of the class. And it was a good thing I brought my other pistol. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2XFSFc2
