Pistol suggestions

I'm heading to the US from the UK, I've done security in the UK and want to continue it in the US. In a previous post it was suggested I do armed security for more money but being a European I have very little experience with handguns. I've shot them in the US before but of course never owned them. Any suggestions would be wonderful and I figured this would be a good place to ask if any of you have the time to spare.​If any of this is relevant. My hands are small for a large man, typically smaller than a lot of women's in terms of length but relatively strong. I'm personally fairly large and fairly tall. I've shot some sort of a sig 9mm before, some double action 22 revolver and a .45 1911 of which I was best and most comfortable with the 1911 but with putting less than a hundred shots thought it means it probably doesn't matter.
