Tl:dr don't carry and scenario that couldve been may or may not have been for sure a threat but was too many red flags for me. Sometimes a knife edc is JUst aS GEwD in shorter distances. But a g23 would work when they don't.I live in aix of good and bad neighborhood, but this was a mile from there. Walked out of stater bros last evening. Got some enchilada ingredients. Saw this kid maybe a couple years younger than me, 21-25 yo, came in without a mask asked for one from my cashier and walked off.I put my groceries in my trunk, next to the machete and tools I never bothered to take out of it. Wow there's a premed charge right there for me.Lo and behold I finish up, walk up to my door and stick my key in, this part I can't remember bc this is where it happened. I hear footsteps and some crinkling at my rear left towards the entrance of and coming from the store. Maybe 15 or less yards away at my 4:30. I turned the key at the moment I heard them and cannot recall if I fully unlocked the car and relocked it, or just before that last bit of resistance I pulled the key back.Anyway, I turned to see that kid making a fucking B line toward me. Long gait and all. I stared at him as I pulled my door handle to make sure it's closed, and as I faced at him, gave 'em you all know that "Fuckaround n find out" stare. This was at about less than 7 yards and the time I faced him was about less than 3.Kid 90°s to his left, my right. Has the tenacity to seem lost and flutter about as to where whoever he was with had parked. A damn white Toyota at the very end of the lot. I watched him walk up to and get in.Na bro. That's sus. Totally probable in my perception. You don't make a fucking B line toward someone in a compromised position and at the last second shift gears and play dumb. At least to me anyway.I wouldn't have drew at that time because it was so close if I could have drawn anyway. Funny shit is that I belt checked myself.I've been in situations that have arisen where I felt like I would need to draw but obviously couldn't have, and in the end didn't need to because I was wrong about them. This time I didn't feel the need to draw but I knew if my door was opened i would need to pull out my blade regardless if it as an innocent situation. My body just said to me "watch this guy".Sorry long time carriers and survivors. Not tryina think I'm cool. Just a little bit of the game for me I guess. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3c9b9v0
