Ammo best practices and recommendations

I got my permit and started carrying about 11 months ago. At the time, all I knew about ammo for CCW was that it absolutely cannot be FMJ. When I bought my carry gun (Gen 4 Glock 26), I simply asked the employee at the gun shop for a box of 9mm defensive ammo. It was more expensive than "range" ammo, so I only bought enough to fill my two 10 round mags (and have one in the chamber).Fast forward a bit and I'm now carrying a Gen 4 Glock 19. For those who aren't Glock people, 15-round mags now instead of 10-round mags. I needed more carry ammo to fill these larger magazines, but couldn't remember what brand I'd received previously. I simply asked the guy for a box of defensive 9mm ammo. After opening the box, it was immediately obvious that I now had two different types of ammo. Here are a few questions I have:1) It seems like bad practice to carry two types of ammo, like that would negatively impact consistency and reliability, but is that truly the case?2) If it is best practice to carry only one brand/type of ammo, what brand would some more experienced carriers recommend?3) How often should I be replacing my carry ammo? I've had the same rounds since day 1 and I'm approaching the 1 year mark.4) Obviously you can never have too many rounds stored up at home for going to the range, but when it comes to ammo for CCW how much ammo do you normally keep? Is it worth stockpiling defensive ammo, or should I keep just enough to fill the mags I carry on my person? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2UxSLjT
