Looking to get a micro 380 pistol... Any Advice?

So I have been looking to get a small 380 for pocket / ankle carry as a possible back up for my current carry gun a XDs 9mm. and something that is super comfortable to carry. My wife already has a 380 Walther PPK (S&W contract) so I already have a stock pile of 380 ammo.I am leaning toward the Ruger LCP 2 but I have some concerns in my research. This is what I have so far as pros and consLCP 2ProsIn my budget $250-$300Nice trigger and resetRuger legendary customer service many myself consider second to nonelast round hold openmagazines are affordable.consI have seen videos of people having trouble extracting live un-fired rounds and them getting stuck in the ejection port because it is to small. Basically if you have a dead round and have to tap rack bang the gun will jam.lack of a firing pin block safety and rumors that Ruger themselves suggest / claim to NOT carry with a round chambered which is a deal killer for me.I have seen videos of problems with failures to extract but also videos and comments of the ruger lcp2 going thousands of rounds with out issue..I would love any input from LCP 2 owners and maybe any other suggestions for a Micro 380 pistolMy requirementsMust be $300 or under, must lock open on last round, must be safe to carry with a round chambered, must be smaller than a glock 42, prefer no manual safety but may allow it depending on deisgn. Must have a reputation of being reliable with a company that will stand behind it. Prefer a trigger that doesn't suck but would be open to the idea of getting a double action only. Similar battery of arms of my 9mm XDs so micro 1911 style is out.I did research on the S&W bodyguard 380 and have seen / watched several reports of failure to fire / light primer strikes so that one is out.my 2nd pick right now is the Kahr cw380 some say it has reliability issues and even the manufacture says it has a 200 round break in period. Honestly I do not know much about this gun as I didn't spot any at the local gun shops. Please any advice or input you guys have from your experience would be great. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2P1af9G

Tier 1 concealment aplc compatible holster retention?

I’m buying a new ccw (m&p 2.0 compact 4”) and am going to get an axis slim for my new holster. My question is, does anyone know if I choose to get the holster that is compatible with the inforce APLC, will it still have retention if I do NOT have the light equipped? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2yHMB7U

Do you have a thumb safety on your ccw?

My current ccw (shield) does not have a thumb safety. Im buying a new ccw tonight (2.0 compact) and can’t really make mind up on if I should get the thumb safety or not. What’s your opinion? If I train with it and get the muscle memory down, I don’t see an issue. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2OgysDR

Loose X300U-A?

I just bought an X300U-A for my G19 Gen 5. I threw it on after I got it out of the box earlier today and noticed that it has a slight bit of play back and forth on the "rail" for my G19, it's noticeable when I try to use the momentary on function for the light and I can feel it slide forward on the rail a bit.Is this normal at all? Or is it something I need to worry about and return to vendor or warranty it? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2JssQFH

Advice for synagogue security/CCW

Background about me: I've been CCWing for about 2 years, never had a personal DGU. My state requires a fairly lengthy process including a class and live fire demonstration to acquire a permit. I practice a few times a year. Less than I should, I know.So in light of the recent events in Pittsburgh, my synagogue decided to take some increased security measures (personally, I don't know why they waited until after something already happened. With school/church shootings being in the news so much, it was only a matter of time until it happened in a synagogue)Anyway, I joined in on the security committee meeting, and was pleased to find out that there are actually several other CCW holders and that the Rabbi actually supports CCW. I was less pleased when one of the members who (claims?) to be an ex-cop basically took over. He started regaling everyone with bravado stories about how many shootings and stabbings he's been in, which was annoying...but chalk it up to establishing credentials. But some of the stuff he said made me question it all. He insisted that his revolver was superior to everyone else's "automatics," he made sure to show us his gun on an ankle holster (of course, not to be outdone by the guy who keeps his loaded gun in the back of his pants -sans holster and kept pulling it out and muzzle sweeping everyone to show how he would take down an attacker). He also talked in absolutes a lot - this is the best place to stand, this is how an attacker will enter, this is what he'll do, this is how you should alert other people (yell out "code blue"...ok mall ninja). Also things that seem tactically stupid to me...like why would I take up positions near the exits? The last thing I want to do is draw fire towards where people are evacuating, and if the shooter decides to run away, that seems like a positive thing. Let the cops catch him later. Then there was the guy who insisted that everyone should not keep a round chambered. I didn't argue, because I don't expect that anyone will be checking my firearm to see that I'm following their arbitrary rules. Anyway, that was mostly rant..but I do have some questions, and open to practical suggestions for how to safely and effectively CCW in a place of worship, and also how to deal with this bunch of clowns. One thing that ex-cop wants us to do is to inform the off-duty cop who will be standing by the entrance for the next few months that we are carrying "so he will know who the good-guy with a gun is." Is this a good idea? I always felt that "concealed is concealed" and I don't want to advertise it to anyone. But in a way, it does make sense.ex-cop also said that one person should sit it the lobby, and not follow a shooter into the sanctuary because then he could get caught in cross fire between those CCing inside. That sort of makes sense. But I question the wisdom of having someone in the lobby at all. It seems that all it is an invitation to be the first one shot and out of the game. And If I was in the lobby and somehow he got past me, I wouldn't want to sit there and listen to people getting shot because I'm not allowed in after him.considering the number of CCWers we have (4-5 total, but only 1-2 on any given week), where, in general, would be the best place to station them (also ideally in such a way not to completely miss out of the prayers and sermon). There is a kids play room in the back. I think protecting the kids is a priority, but I also don't think it's likely that an attacker will go looking for them. It seems to me that a shooter will most likely head directly for the sanctuary where there are the most people. So should someone be delegated to sit there? Is posting here a grave breach of op-sec? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2yGHogQ

I want to buy either a HK VP9SK or a Micro 9mm -- help me think here?

Hi all,I have a full CCW setup already - a P80 Glock 19 IWB appendix carry. It's actually about the size of a Glock 17 with the comp, and it's decently comfortable and fine for normal walks and doesn't print. etc. Long sessions of sitting down at places is workable but meh I wouldn't want to do it all day. I wish to make a more comfy setup for outdoor activities such as hiking or disc golf - something that might not touch my leg as much when moving. So therefore, with some new disposable income I was wanting something smaller with a laser for something I could throw in my pocket hopefully. I have experience with the Sig P290rs and the Sig P938 but I sold those (also I don't feel like supporting sig with this new purchase at the moment due to their P365 quality control fiasco and denial). I was looking for something even smaller and lighter so I have been looking at getting the Kel-Tec PF-9 (I like what this guy did - by the way, lol @ 0:34) for cheap then swapping out the trigger to make it a bit better. It's extremely light weight and thin which is good, but a bit of a cringe in terms of reliability if you don't watch it closely for bad signs (good news is lifetime warranty). I know this sounds a bit strange as I just highlighted my use case for micro 9mm, but after reading about fragility issues with certain Micro 9s (and crappy triggers) I keep thinking screw it, get the VP9SK with a laser - I'm a big sucker for triggers that feel amazing and I've shot it before with a buddy, noticing how comfortable and smooth it is to shoot. Is there any conceivable chance I could make the VP9SK a fat pocket setup or am I dreaming? It's just barely bigger than the Glock 26...I'm basically in a stage of cognitive dissonance. I want a VP9SK badly but I feel like my P80 overlaps its use case, and I want a smaller pistol again. I might be able to make the right micro 9mm work but I know the VP9SK would be much better in terms of performance. What do you guys think? If you had a bigger Glock 17 sized setup for the norm, what would you supplement with as a smaller CCW pistol?tl;drYou already have a normal appendix setup, G17 size. For even comfier outdoor stuff (long walks, hikes, etc.) Would you want something like a VP9SK/Glock 26 or micro 9mm? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Ju8wDE

Got a snub nose the other day and for the life of me can’t find a holster to fit.

Bought a Rock Island m206 the other day just to have something to carry while I save up for my preferred choice. I’ve tried a couple different holsters, and the only one I’ve found to actually fit is a Blackhawk tech-grip. It holds just fine and is relatively comfortable but I’m not sold on the idea that it’s not attached to my belt in any way.Does anybody have any experience with this particular gun or can point me in the right direction? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2JvbMPh

Equipment for AIWB carry

Hi all,Long time lurker here. I'm trying to figure out the best equipment (for me) for AIWB carry. I'll be carrying an M&P Bodyguard. Pocket carry is an option but actually given my frame and my clothing AIWB is better in both concealment and draw with minimal impact to my comfort. My workplace is not conducive to conceal carry so I can't even have a waist clip under or on my belt. I am looking for another belt to fit under my pants or at my belly (but preferably under pants). I know it sounds awkward but I've tried it with a nylon belt and it works very well, but the belt will for sure chafe like hell throughout the day. Anyone know of any belts that stay locked and that are out of a soft material/weave? Or if there are any deep AIWB carriers out there with a better solution, I'd love to hear that too. Thanks! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Q7R4ay

Utah Non-res permit processing?

I recently submitted my non-res UT permit application. Mailed it on August 30th, it was delivered on Sept 5th, and they deposited my check on Sept 12th. I know some states have time period they have to comply with, like Colorado can't take more than 90 days, Just wondering if UT has something similar? I’m looking for a new pocket holster that is a bit more rigid than the DeSantis Nemesis. I got it a few months ago as a first pocket carry holster but the extra fabric simply bends when I'm sitting down and the entire outline is visible. Any suggestions?

Any regrets switching from a simple holster to a sidecar style one?

I recently purchased a WML for my ccw and am in the market for a new holster to accommodate it. I currently use a Vedder light tuck but am interested in getting something like a T1 axis or sidecar style holster. Carry optics question: how long did it take to adjust, and has it made a big/positive difference?

I have started to notice a number of r/CCW members have posted gear pics with carry optics. I have only shot a race gun (not mine) a few rounds with one, but was really impressed with it in that I was able to focus on the target and red dot at the same time (used to that with a rifle, and not sure why I was so surprised), and that I could see so much movement due to the dot. I am slowly starting to consider it since I have eyes that don't want to cooperate when I try to focus on the front sight. So, a couple questions for those who actually train and carry with a RDS:How long did it take to adjust and how did you make the adjustment to where you were at least as capable with the red dot as iron sights? What kind of difference has it made? Is it easy to carry? Faster to acquire a sight picture? Thanks! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Sy8yOY

Female CC full size. Does it exist?

Currently carry a sig .380. Amazing piece of weaponry, love it. With an extended mag I have 7 shots. I can fully conceal it. I can conceal an extra mag. I can actually conceal 3 extra mags with one of my holsters. No issues there. Requires a bit of wardrobe adjustment but you cannot tell I have it on. I have 3 holsters in regular rotation depending on what I'm wearing. I vary between appendix and about 5 o'clock, again, depending on the outfit. Unfortunately sometimes I cannot conceal an extra mag.I would love to upgrade.Ideally I'd like to conceal my Glock 17. Unfortunately (or fortunately!) I have a slim frame. All of the "women conceal carry" sites seem to feature pictures designed to minimize printing. Lighting, pose, camera angle. You can tell that standing normally it would print. I originally wanted the sig 9mm but the extra thickness just was not working for every day concealment.Does anyone here, in real life, conceal a full size as a slim woman? What wardrobe adjustments did you have to make? What holster do you use? I'm not willing to carry off body. The under arm holsters seem the only realistic option but I'm wondering if any outer layer thinner than full blazer would work. I have a bunch of cardigans for winter cc but I'm concerned they are too thin to conceal a full size. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2JpWDyC

Holster does not cover entire trigger guard.

I have been searching high and low for an OWB holster that conceals my Glock 19. Finally got my hands on one that conceals it under my overshirt very well, but it does not cover the entire trigger guard. It does cover the trigger itself, but the entire area behind the trigger is exposed. How much of an issue is this and should I even risk carrying this way? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2zind87

Almost a DGU (against an animal)

I came close to using my weapon yesterday and am interested in your thoughts. I was watching my five year old play in the backyard yesterday afternoon when a large deer jumps my (six foot privacy) fence. The deer was clearly wounded. When I saw my son standing in an enclosed area with a wounded animal I grabbed my bed side gun (which was only two steps away) and ran outside. My son ran to me and the deer made a hard right and tried to jump back over the fence. He barely cleared it (hitting his legs) and took off. Did I overreact? Also, how much does one think about backstops in a defensive situation? If that deer had used hooves or antlers on my son then I would have shot it without hesitation. However, the bullet could easily have gone into a neighbor’s house. Note - hunting season does not start for three days so this was not a “free dinner” situation. :-) via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2SvRWrd
