Look, I believe strongly in the right to conceal carry, even extending to reasonable public alcohol consumption.I have no problem with CCWers carrying a concealed weapon when you're out and having a good time. Two things have happened to me this year that I want to tell you guys about. The first was an older biker dude who is honestly a cool guy and a great regular. However, within a month of the Parkland shooting, he came into my bar strapping a full sized gun to his hip in open carry. I would imagine it was a political statement of some sort.My town in Oregon prohibits open carry. I sympathized with him and said hey, I'm passionate about guns too (which I don't talk about around work), but open carry is illegal in this town. He retorted with "open carry is legal in Oregon"Yes, it is, but I wasn't going to explain municipal presumption to him, I just made up that it was a company policy, and asked him to conceal it.The second was less confrontational but even more annoying. I was checking the ID of a young ~20 years old man, which I am too. His ID was chipped and damaged. As far as our alcohol governing body is concerned, that is an invalid license and we need to deny a sale.I bend it a bit and allow people (that I reasonably believe are of age, but young enough to be carded) to know that they need to have their ID replaced or I wont accept it again. This guy (again, mid 20s), I advised his license was damaged and I am generally not supposed to accept it, he laughed at me and showed me his concealed carry permit saying "how about this government issued ID"Like fuck dude, I like guns but I manage a lot of petite female bartenders in a left leaning town. They could have been severely intimidated by you for no fucking point, I just gave you a reasonable warning and was going to serve you anyways.Come on guys. I don't think you have to be puritanically sober to carry a gun. But don't look like a fool, for my sake. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Nx1tLS
