Halloween scenario

I went to a haunted hike thing a few years ago with my girlfriend and a few other friends. It's a large event with thousands of people, set up on a farm. I made sure to check the company website before going and the didn't forbid carrying firearms, so I brought my S&M Sigma 9mm in an iwb nylon holster like any good CCW newb would. Before I begin the scenario it's important to note that I saw signs posted all over saying it was illegal to hit or assault any of the spooks and you'd be prosecuted if you did. Seems like a totally reasonable policy, but do I think it had something to do with what happened that night. My friends and I went through 5 or so of the haunts without any issue. It must have been around midnight just before the place closed that we went into the last hike, which was located in the most remote corner of the event. Not many people were there and no one else was in line with us so we walked right in. Our group split up into groups of two, so I went through with only my girlfriend. Two "spooks" dressed as vampires or ghouls or something start following us and basically hissing and saying they're going to suck our blood or something like that. It was a bit corny, and not the least bit scary. After following us for 20 ft or so, one of the spooks turns back to wait for the next victim. Now the other spook is walking right next to my girlfriend and he puts his face right up to hers, so he's towering over her (she's 4'10'') and says: "I'm going to knock your fucking teeth out"Up until that point I was laughing along with the scare but that pissed me off so I'm like "What the did you just say?"And he looks at me over my girlfriend who's crying now and says "I'm gonna knock your girlfriends teeth out"So I told him to stop and get away from us. He didn't and continued to walk with his face right up against my girlfriends saying things like: "I'm gonna knock your fucking teeth out" "I'm gonna fuck your faggot boyfriend in the ass" etc. There was much more but this happened years ago so I don't remember the details. In no way was he acting like a ghoul or whatever, he was saying all of this in a gangster, chest puffing sort of way.I really did think about drawing my gun while this was happening, since he had just threatened grave bodily harm to my girlfriend, and I'd told him to leave us alone and he hadn't, but I thought better of it. My guess at the time was that this asshole was trying to bait someone into hitting him and then he'd try to act like the victim and try to sue or something. Or maybe he just wanted a fight idk.He ended up following us for a very uncomfortable 100 yards, the whole time I was very ready to draw on this guy if he threw a punch or something. He didn't though as I expected so in the end I was left with a very distraught girlfriend, but thankfully no one got hurt.So hindsight is 20/20 and knowing now that he wasn't going to throw a sucker punch it's obvious that I made the right call, but in the moment I didn't know that. I do think I could have done a better job of commanding him to get away from us though. What would you have done in my place? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2wl6hNE
