First read these two posts below because they're very important to my message.
As the two link above shows there is an obsession in the middle class not only to prove one's strength in dick-measuring mano y mano fights but also many middle class think violence is a game. However one further contrast is in the middle class men are often eager to defend a woman they barely know. She doesn't have to be pretty, she could just be some random old lady who a mugger chose or some mother in her 40s who a predator is stalking on the road. However for those of us from the ghetto, even with an acquaintance we known for years-hell even a girl we considered a friend- we often are hesitant to intervene and might even leave them to be raped or beaten if the risk is too great (such as said rapist being a Hell's Angel member or having 5 friends and only two of us around).
As harsh as that sounds, we from poverty places rife with violence have children to feed, family to defend, and so on and we never thought of "heroics" and "violence" as mashed together. However in the middle class this is a dangerous habit. Enough that there are many stories of middle class students with some martial arts or boxing training being found dead with a naked girl who's raped and there are videos on Youtube of middle class people having cut faces or swollen eyes from a bar fight for defending a women as seen when some marines tried to stop harassment towards a girl and a fight happened that left one of them with a nasty cut across the face. Even people without training would often rush in blindly to defend a girl (esp a pretty one).
Where as us ghettos who are vets of violence would never lift a finger to help a woman who's a stranger to us 99% of the time and just ignore her screams for help as her clothes are being ripped. I remember we left an acquaintance classmate who got drunk on the streets to be and the next day she was found with blood on her genitals and crying like nuts. Even a few real friends such as a girl I played music with at clarinet class I ran away when I saw a gang surrounded her. Granted I called the cops and they came in time just as the gang member was taking her pants off by force while the rest were holding her so its not like I just ran away without thinking of her. However I definitely would have left for safety and abandoned her if the cops didn't arrive in time.
The only time we intervened without a second thought was if the would-be victim was a relative or very close friend. During one time, a big muscular guy pinned my best female friend (the first one I ever had when I moved years earlier) and had a knife on her. I immediately reacted by whacking him with a broomstick I found and kept hitting him long enough for my best friend to escape. We got into a brutal brawl afterwards that got me a black eye and stomped on the ground until some of my gang buddies happen to be passing by and intervened, scaring him away. And a similar things happened to almost everyone in our gang towards girlfriends, best friends, and family that forced us to retaliate to avoid them getting hurt.
So even if a woman was about to get brutally raped, we would hesitate in the ghetto to play the hero and protect her unless she was our family member or close friend or long time GF. In the middle class on the other hand, its the first reaction of many males and everytime I see an incident go by without anyone seriously being injured on TV I always react what a bunch of morons they are for risking their life for some random woman and rant how lucky they are. Enough that cops had to tell me to leave and my gang shares similar sentiments even if they're not as vocal as I am lol.
Why is the "white knight" psychology so common among middle class guys especially those with some martial arts, boxing, or military training?Don't they know this attitude is dangerous and they could get killed?!
