People who have Fired their gun in self defense, does the volume of the gunshot affect your ability to fight?

Loud sounds scare me, but not so much when I am making them. I am still curious, if I need to defend myself, should how loud a gun is be a concern? Could louder = better in psychologically stopping a threat? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2N8p7Bj
