I Caught Myself Practicing Trigger Safety Yesterday...

Greetings, /r/CCW/!Before I get to an explanation of the title, I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself, as this is my first post. Been lurking for a number of months now, so I figured it was about time to actually say hi. Hi!Since moving to the Gunshine State back in '08, I've been wanting to get my permit. Just this past September, I finally made that a reality when my application was approved.I initially picked up a Taurus PT92 AF locally for a steal at $250. Carried it around for a few months, but quickly realized that my 5'8", 120lb frame is just too small for such a large service pistol. I carry AIWB, so when I crushed my right testicle with the muzzle for the 6th or 7th time while in the process of sitting down, I figured I should probably go with a more modestly-sized offering for my main carry, and assign the Taurus to another line of duty.Having been a big fan of the 1911 style and Manual of Arms, this led me to the P938. After a few weeks of searching, I lucked out again and found another awesome deal on an Army Green P938 TALO Exclusive (picture), $420. Since the wife already agreed to allow me to cash in my birthday present early if I found a good deal, I grabbed it before someone else did. Also pictured are: - TRex Arms AIWB Raptor holster - Hausbell flashlight - Leatherman Wave with RAEgearUSA sheathI'd also like to take a moment to thank everyone for the details and insights provided throughout every post. I've gained many different perspectives on the various aspects of carrying a weapon, so I really appreciate everyone taking the time to share their thoughts. Now, an amusing CCW-related anecdote that occurred yesterday which made me breathe sharply out of my nose:Since I started carrying, I always make it a point to practice what I can from the comfort of my own home on a near-daily basis (in addition to range time once a week or so). This includes unholstering, dry-fire, etc. I've always been very keen on the Four Golden Rules of gun safety, which obviously includes ensuring that NOTHING enters the trigger-guard under ANY circumstances unless I have a good sight-picture on my target and I'm ready to destroy it and whatever's behind it.Yesterday, I caught myself doing exactly that: firm grip, index-finger out of the trigger guard and pointed forward. At the gas station. With the pump handle. Had myself a good sensible chuckle and continued the transaction, with the comfort of knowing that I would not be having a negligent discharge of gasoline until my target was acquired.Anyone else ever catch themselves practicing an aspect of firearm safety with a non-firearm?TL;DR: Hi! Thanks for the CCW hive-mind! I practice trigger safety at gas stations.Edit: Apparently I'm just not understanding Reddit formatting for bullet-points. No bullet-points for you! via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2HeKT0A
