I've just finished my 11th week of CCL in Washington DC since late November.Observations: 1) Moving around DC by car or walking is not too bad at all. Main thing to be cautious about is going to meetings inside any medium to large building since if building includes any federal or any DC govt office or day care no sign is needed for it to be prohibited. With the car I wish I had tinted windows and may do after market since I unholster in car and unload (including unchamber) while sitting pulled over every once in a while , for example if I must go inside a school to sign out one of my kids. I've already lost a couple of rounds in my car during ejection that I had to search for at the end of the day.2) Transport by public transport such as subway/bus involves unloading and locking. I used two small soft sided pouches that have lockable zippers and tiny comb padlocks and throw them inside of my briefcase or backpack. Easy enough with planning, a PITA if it starts raining and I decide to take subway on the fly since one has to find a bathroom or discreet place.3) I am very concerned, probably over-concerned, with printing, but am starting to relax especially as I build wardrobe around that issue. I've got a G43 for fall-winter-spring and will likely switch to my p238 for summer.I know the old saw about cops recognizing anyone who is carrying is, well simply not true. I walk into a 7-eleven about two or three morning a week and it is invariably full of cops. The statistics show DC has a illegal to legal gun possession ratio of at least 50:1 so they could presume virtually all people with a weapon have an illegal one, and none have ever said anything.4) Costs: first two years if you already have a registered gun in DC= $270 training plus 75 application fee ($172/year). Subsequent two years $140 training plus $75 renewal fee ($107/year).If you have any questions in the practical matters of getting or using a CCL here in the District of Columbia, formerly the worst place to own firearms and now probably around 10th worst (lol), would be happy to answer if I can. via /r/CCW http://ift.tt/2ECzLMn
