Hello everyone,
I’m a psychiatric technician and i honestly don’t know where else to post to learn how to properly disengage a self harming patient from biting themselves. In our CPI class we learn how to disengage if a patient bites us, but not themselves. Is the process the same? Would you feed the bite? I’m posting here because i feel like i failed my patient because it’s the first instinct i had to stop them from tearing their scabs off til help arrived. Are there any other tips anyone can share?
