Thoughts about edc spare mags?

Hi all, new here and new to CC in general. Seems like a lot of great knowledge on this Reddit. I see a lot of edc photos on here with people carrying ten plus round semi autos with an extra mag.I know everyone has different thoughts and opinions about what is right for them. I am genuinely curious if you’re a normal civilian:What is the logic for carrying the extra mag? IE What type of scenario do you see yourself expending 10+ rounds and reloading?Stupid to think about this one but In this day and age, do you feel if you reload during an engagement it opens you up to a higher chance for prosecution? Thanks for the responses. I feel like I am always either overthinking (or potentially under thinking ) engagement scenarios. This leaves me switching between carrying my 19x for capacity and my .38 snubbie for comfort. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/b2R0eKh

OWB Kydex with significant amount of cant

It seems like most Kydex OWB holsters have very little cant. Does anyone know anyone that makes one you can get a significant amount with, say 20° or so. I get a significant amount of belt droop in the rear that I need to counter. I was looking at the JP Holsters OWB Pancake, which seems like you might be able to get a good bit by flipping the rear belt loop. But it's hard to say just by looking at the pictures. For reference I am able to get just barely enough with a StealthGear Flex OWB by moving the front and rear clips as high and low as possible respectively. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/w9370eS

I need help choosing a Shot Timer

It's time for me to get a shot timer for live and dry fire practice. The problem is I really need a model that allows the beep to be turned down really quiet so I can use it in the basement while my kids are sleeping... and I'm finding that a hard thing to search for on the internet. So if you know of a shot timer that can have a quiet beep, please mention it.I am shooting 22lr and 38/357 j-frame revolvers (S&W 43c and 340PD) at an outdoor range with on average one other shooter present. Most of the live fire is 22lr due to the current ammo cost, and the dry fire is with the 357. Some day it'll be used with my 9mm CZ's and my AUG (5.56), but I wanna focus on the j-frames for the immediate future since that's what I carry. My 22lr ammo gets my hands filthy, so anything requiring me to touch my phone for live fire is out.I saw the AMG commander supposedly picks up dry fire and is the hot thing right now, but I wanna use my timer this summer and they seem to be back ordered months and months.I have a Mantis X10, but the only way to mount it to my j-frames is via a barrel insert and that wouldn't work for drawing or live fire. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/83te4Nh

If you could only carry 2 if the 3 (poll)

I see 3 items frequently included or suggested as part of EDC : 1) TQ 2) spare mag 3) oc/pepper spray.I currently carry all 3 (ratcheting TQ, 15rd spare+neomag, POM clip) in addition to a p365xl, phone, wallet, keys, a flat pocket IFAK, pocket torch, pen, knife, chap stick, and handkerchief, so as you can imagine my pockets are getting quite bulky/heavy (and I don't wear or want to wear cargos or a fanny pack). I use everything else in my pockets commonly, but luckily, haven't needed a spare mag, a TQ or oc spray and am thinking of ditching the heaviest of the 3 aforementioned items (the spare mag+neomag). So, if you had to omit 1 of the 3, which one would you omit from your EDC?View Poll via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/OGp1c9Q

Looking for advice on carrying and hiking...

Do you guys carry while hiking, and if so how? I live in Washington State. Entering my first hiking season with my CPL. Don't really want to appendix carry my Hellcat while I train for Mt. Adams with drastic incline hikes. Walking on trails would be different. I have a 19x I am thinking about OWB carrying under my shirt, just without caring if I print. Not sure if I am comfortable open carrying when walking past hundreds of people, especially on trails where there isn't wildlife. (I am asking more in reference to very popular trails, not deep woods, where I would be fine open carrying)View Poll via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/UodaX0A

Gun pointed at me in LA a few nights ago over some guy road raging

Was on PCH driving at 10:30 pm going to visit a friend I haven’t seen in a few years. This dodge charger and his other Dodge Charger friend were racing so I went around them to try and not be in danger. I did floor it to go past them. One of his friends sped up and pointed his glock at my drivers side window an then waved it around. I just acted not phased and focused on the road. Kinda gnarly got crazy anxiety from that instance. How would you respond if you were carrying?EDIT: didn’t add this to the story bc I thought it was irrelevant. It was a 3 lane, they were racing in the fast lane and middle lane. They kept flooring it and slowing down causing traffic. People were honking at them. I turned my blinker on and got over two lanes, floored it to get past them. He caught up to me and then pointed the gun via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/O4Scjkq

I drew my gun today/Los Angeles

After evaluating my own decision, I believe I may have overreacted. But I’d like to hear from you guys as I just did what I believe I should have at the moment, which was protect myself from danger.I was driving in downtown Los Angeles down the street from my apartment. It was about 9:15 pm. I stopped at a red light and was the only car at the intersection. I remember just casually looking at the lights as I was super tired and on my way to get food, when all of a sudden some guy starts trying to open my right hand side back passenger door. The way he was trying to open it was violently (as in like he was REALLY trying to open it). From his appearance he looked like a regular dude and not someone homeless so I immediately drew my weapon and flashed my light at him through the window. He saw it, put his hands up, and slowly walked back. That was the end of that.I bring up his appearance because if he was a homeless person and perhaps wasn’t as violent in trying to open the door, I probably would have concluded that he is mentally ill and probably isn’t out to do anything bad to me, however this guy looked normal, which is what freaked me out.Did I overreact? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/jAcSyr9

Do J frame revolvers lean out when carried aiwb like sub-compacts do when there isn’t much gun/holster below the belt?

I currently carry a P365 aiwb (12:30) and I’m having difficulty with the grip end leaning out and printing. I was wondering if j frame revolvers do the same thing because they are also so short, or are they shaped in a way that it just doesn’t happen?I know a wedge would help, I’m just curious on the revolver. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/1rumhDB

Accidentally becoming an international arms dealer and why to have a range bag

This is from a recent trip that I took but if nothing else use this as an excuse to get a seperate range bag.So my spouse and I recently took a cruise trip to relax after getting settled into our post college jobs for a few years. First international trip for both of us in a while.Everything went fine getting on the ship in the US and even getting off at our first stop. The problem came getting back on the ship. We went through the metal detector and put our bags on the conveyor belt. I heard a whisper between the security on the ship and saw my bag get taken out."Sir can we check your bag?" I didn't have a problem answering yes because I thought that they were just concerned by the wires in my bag with the radio and other electronics I took. The security pulled the contents out and my eyes widened as they found a single loaded round of 9mm in what is normally my range backpack. The bag was sent back through the xray machine and no further ammo was found. Luckily I have my CHL which seemed to placate alot of the security team. Body cameras were turned on and our room was fully searched while my spouse was silently fuming at me for not triple checking my bag. Security was professional enough through the ordeal and stated that I wasn't in trouble with them or anything due to the license as otherwise they would have had to make a few calls back home to try and get supporting documentation. They also reassured me that I was not the first American that this happened to. I felt humiliated more at my own self and the fact that I didn't shake the bag out more before I left. Luckily I was able to continue the cruise and didn't have to deal with the local authorities directly though I did have to sign a personal statement as to how the ammo got on board and that I wasn't aware of any further ammo or gun parts being on the ship.Lessons.Have a seperate range bag - this would have solved the problem before it was even known. I've been using this backpack as my "everything bag" for a while but I think I'll just keep it for travel now.Even if your state has a constitutional carry law having an official license made the process much smoother and prevented alot of extra work on our end. Process was overall only about an hour and a half before we got released to dinner.Having the right life partner makes a difference in situations like this. I'm sure that I would have been alright on my own but I'm with an amazing person that was nice enough to go get me icecream afterwards because of how much they care. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/uiFxcnE

Training Can Be Easy

[this is a crosspost from a 'NSFW' subreddit I made]

You just relax, zone out, and move.

For example: Bobbing your head to music with a bit of extra effort here and there to work the sides of the neck and front of the neck along with twists is PLENTY to develop a thick and strong, injury resistant neck. Doing this for hours at a time and slowly increasing the average intensity over the course of days, weeks, and/or months is PLENTY to progress. And with a baseline of activity and general fitness it's easy to incorporate more exercises.

Here is singer George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher:

Fisher released his debut solo album 'Corpsegrinder' on February 25, 2022

All he did was head bang to metal and his neck is HUGE. I don't recommend starting out by thrashing your neck to an EXTREME but the body adapts pretty quickly. Fitness can be fun and relaxing while effective.

Now consider the spine. Instead of just bobbing your neck you can bob your entire body. You can bend side to side, exercising the spine and waist. You can do twists and bend forward and backward all while listening to music. Doing this for a few hours most days will quickly allow harder bobbing, bending, and weaving until you have a spine absolutely WRAPPED with muscle including the back, waist, and ribcage muscles.

This is all a simple process that can be applied to the whole body. The connective tissue and joints will surely benefit and the body will become more durable, enduring, and strong from the sheer volume of work and slow escalation of force generally used.

ok that's it.

Best training for real world toughness/defense?

I have done a mix of the typical martial arts that are popular in America and they are more for sports/fighting off the school bully than the real world. What is the best form of training to build confidence, toughness, and hand-to-hand defense? Would it be a military style boot camp? The closest martial art I can think of is Krav Maga and to be honest Krav schools in America are kinda soft(speaking from experience)(not trying to step on anyones toes)

What are some of the best martial arts to learn?

Anytime I get threatened, I feel intimidated and scared to do anything. I have been assaulted and jumped before and I don't want to be in another situation where I feel powerless again. I feel like people easily walk over me like some type of doormat and I am just way too nice. I am not assertive enough to fight back. I am tired of going through this situation and it may happen in my life again but I want to be able to handle it better. I have tried boxing before but it wasn't really for me. I wasn't learning faster enough and better even though I was doing the drills and sparring more. What other martial arts can I learn to overcome my fear of fighting?

What to do when Another Man Starts Yelling at Me

I've been in tons of situations where I was in a group, and suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, some boy my age or some other man would start yelling at me. These guys have been extremely aggressive with me and in many cases were even much smaller than I am. I responded to these situations by doing whatever I could to placate them and get them to just leave me alone as soon as possible. I was never really even doing anything wrong or stupid in many of these cases. They just wanted to assert their dominance over me, and they certainly got their wish. I think my larger stature made them even more satisfied that they were able to assert their dominance. After each and every one of these experiences, I felt like I had been castrated. Whenever I was strong, these people would never target me, but whenever I displayed any kind of weakness, they would target me for absolutely no reason whatsoever other than to raise their perceived status by asserting dominance over me. This has lead to much of my social isolation and low sense of self worth.

Obviously, I have to somehow reclaim my dominance and at least stand my ground with these people. They have no place in society as long as they behave that way. I should never let someone treat me that way. What do I do?

weapon for self defense against crazy neighbor

So my girlfriend, her parents and i live in the middle of nowhere and our neighbor is phsyco.

A few years ago he was on the property high on meth waving an axe around saying he's gonna kill my girlfriend and her mum. It took 3 hours for the police to arrive so i don't want to rely on them in future

He has recently been unbanned from the region and is moving back next door

I live in new zealand and don't have a gun license and pepper spray is illegal here. Right now all i can think of is a high velocity air rifle but thats far from ideal. Ill get my gun license asap but i need a solution until then. Any ideas?

What should I have done differently?

Apologies now for the long text!

This evening I went to go see a broadway show with my wife and her entire family.

We got there late, and we’re rushing to get to our seats before the show would start.

We were inside the theater at the point where we needed to go through a metal detector. The line was MAN A, my wife, then me.

Man A was told by the security guard he can’t go through unless he has a mask, so he steps off the line to get a mask from another security clerk. My wife being right behind him, just goes right through the metal detectors. He walks back in line, I don’t step forward, as he was in front and allow him to go in front of me, nothing was said at this point.

What he did next was the weird part, he touches my wife’s lower back. Not her butt, but her lower back. Like puts her hand there. I see all of this happen. So I say, and to quote, “excuse me, that’s my wife, what are you doing”

This is the fun part, he immediately almost within less then a blink of an eye, gets in my face and begin circling me and telling me repeatedly “he is not that fucking man” like in the context to to mess with him.

This man, was a fucking huge dude. For context; I’m 6’1 and larger dude for sure. This guy was at least 6’3, 40+, fully laced with tattoos, extremely tight shirt, bald, and a just a mean looking mofo. His looks in his eyes was pure evil and he wanted to hurt me.

At this point, I was so shocked by how quickly he got into my face I just kept saying relax you touched my wife. I’m convinced if there wasn’t security there he would have hit me straight in the face and fucked my shit up.

What he did was completely out of line and uncalled for from begin to end. I would also say I was wearing a yamika as I’m a observant Jew and I saw he kept staring right at it. Mind you, we’re at a kids fucking broadway show…

I’m still shocked and don’t exactly know how to understand the situation. I believe I was in the right for calling him out and then not escalating the situation as he would have definitely kicked my ass.

My two questions is 1. How could I have handled this better if so? 2. I was always taught to never engage as you never know what the other person is capable of doing to you. Is that right here or wrong?

Sorry again for the long text, still trying to understand the situation. It ended with security deescalating and when I told him to go in front of me at the end he hit me elbow but then I just went to my seat and was like WTFFFF

Hesitation on using force

Hey, soo basically I was with my friend out at night talking and minding our business (to be clear i am 200cm 115 kg mascular guy with training in self defence and matrial arts and he is 180 cm 130 kg fat guy with brute force) and two drunken punks (both around 60 kg) came and started screaming and getting way to close to us so naturally i started maintaining distance from one that was bothering me…

But then sh*t escalated and one of them striked my friend with bottle of some kind to the head

This is why i am writing here..

My reaction should have been using force on both guys because they didnt had any training (probably) and my friend was in lethal danger. Thankfuly he somehow standed his ground probably thanks to adrenaline

But instead of ending them right there hesitated and i was still trying to solve it by carefully going away and fleeing…

My question is… how can i train my mind to be able to calculate these situatons better ? I think i would dominate them… i know weight isnt everything but punks were open and just walking waiting to be punched and i did absolutely nothing to protect me and my friend even tho i am capable to do something
