Opinion Piece: Gun Belts are Essential to CCW

Disclaimer: I wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt everywhere. I carry a P365 XL.When I heard of Ulticlips I was sold. No need for a belt? No problem! They are a solid company and make solid products. The first six months of my CCW journey I carried AIWB with my holster attached to my shorts using an Ulticlip. After months of dry fire drills with an out of place holster and my pants sagging (weight loss didn't help), I decided to do what many of you have recommended and wear a gun belt under my shorts. It was an absolute GAME CHANGER! Consistent draws every time, very comfortable, and my shorts stay put.A few notes for the new CCWer:- A gun belt is as essential to your EDC as your holster. Spend the $60 you were going to put towards a light/comp/RDS on a good gun belt. You can find a dozen companies in this sub that make good belts.- Don't trust your leather Walmart belt--it won't hold up. When I started wearing my Hank's Gunner, it was a night and day difference. Those who wear them know what I'm talking about.- Ulticlips/fabriclip/DCC clips are cool, but they won't hold your pants up when you're running or fighting. A self defense encounter may require one or both of those. You cannot risk losing your firearm when you need it most.Final thoughts: I upgraded to the Ulticlip XL, and attach it to a nylon gun belt under my shorts. It's the perfect setup for me. It's my EDC, and it is incredibly comfortable and concealable.TL;DR Invest in a gun belt. You need it more than you think. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3nozPSR
