How important is it to have your trigger covered by a holster?

Hi, I’m new to carrying, and I have a question about safety. I’ve heard it said that it is important to use a good holster that covers the trigger. The reason I’m questioning this advice is that I have a friend who has a clip on his gun that he uses to hook it to his pants inside the waistband. I’ve practiced with his gun, and I find it really easy to conceal when I don’t have the added bulk of a holster. He carries everywhere and that’s the way he recommends. Now, I’ve always leaned very heavily into gun safety and erring on the side of caution. But I am tempted to listen to his advice, not because he’s my friend, but because I know he actually has some authority on the matter. I won’t be specific, but I’ll just say he does stuff with the military. However, before I make a decision, I’d like to ask for advice from you guys. Is there really a danger of catching the trigger and the gun going off if I don’t have the trigger covered? If anyone has experience with this, or has stories associated with the topic, I’d love to hear from you.Edit: I am seeing pretty universal “no” answers, with those who do carry with a clip saying that they either have a manual safety or suggesting that I don’t carry with a round chambered. That’s pretty telling. Also, I appreciate that this is probably considered a stupid question, but I’d rather open my mouth and be discovered for a fool than keep my mouth shut and never learn from other people. Thank you all for your advice. I’d still love to hear from more people, so if you have any personal insight, feel free to offer it. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3f2gDqN
