A review of Pants for CCW

A while ago I asked about what pants for CCW. I said then I'd buy a few pair and the write a review. I received my permit on the 9th, so its been a bit of wait for this. All my reviews are wearing AIWB with a 'We The People' SR9C holster modified to fit my SR40C.1) 511 Tactical's Defender Flex Straight Jean (Size 34/30) - These are more like pants than jeans from a cloth texture perspective. They fit well, stretch to allow a good amount of movement and are pretty comfortable when getting in and out of a car or sitting at my desk. The one thing I don't really like about these (and the OTGS) is the position of the mag pockets. I don't' like it because it tends to catch on things, like the upright back on my truck seat, when moving and getting in and out of cars. I don't really care for the material as it's fairly thin over all and I don't feel like it will hold up to much, if any abuse.2) Off the Grid Surplus Hideout Denim, Dark Wash - (Size 34/30) - These are pretty nice, I wasn't a huge fan since I don't like the taper fit, but I decided to give it a-go based on the strong recommendation here. They have since come out with a straight leg that's much more my style. All that being said, I don't really use the extra pockets that much other than the hip-mag pockets for my spare mag. Like the 511, I'm not a huge fan of the position of this pocket due to how often the mag clip catches. These pants have a tougher to the feel of the material, though it's a little course, it feels like it will hold up better than the 511 "jeans". It does appear to snag easy as my cat was able to create some snags with very little effort on his part.3) Duluth Trading Double Flex Ball Room Jeans (Size 34-30) - These are my personal favorites, they are a nice denim without being too heavy or stiff. They don't have the hip pockets, but the front pockets are wide enough I can keep my wallet in my front left pocket and clip my spare mag there and still have room to get my wallet out with no issue. From a comfort perspective, they do tend to press the holster into my body a little more, but it's not too bad if you get the pants positioned well. These are probably the most durable feeling fabric of any pair of pants with the same range of motion as the others. I will be buying these from now on as I like that the don't throw off that I'm part of the tacticool crowd.I've been wearing a Duluth Trading Lifetime Leather Belt, it's a dual layer belt and the layers are very thick. It does not have a steel band, but I'm not super worried about that as I don't intend to wear OWB most of the time. It is heavy enough that I would be comfortable wearing a tool bag on my hip with it. I do recommend you use what works for you, and this works for me.I also bought theDuluth Double Flex Khaki Pants and a pair of Alaskan HardGear pants for hunting.I would say the Khaki's are a little more restrictive than the jeans, they have a similar thickness of the OTGS pants with the smooth feel of the 511 pants. Pockets are plenty wide for comfortably holding magazines, knives and your wallet and cell phone.Only been out once this year for hunting, but over all, the Alskan HardGear pants were great, my socks and shoes were covered in stickers but not the pants. The pant's also kept the morning dew off and never got wet. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3pRrlWv
