Like the title says.In my experience, nothing has made me a better technical shooter than competition, because it forces me to shoot in situations I'm uncomfortable with. Shooting out of car windows? Taking a knee and shooting under a table? Shooting strong hand only while doing a hard lean behind cover? Reloading the gun while maintaining muzzle awareness in a near-sprint? These are things I never would have practiced until competition opened my eyes.Over the years I've shot USPSA, Steel Challenge, 3 gun, 2 gun, outlaw matches, and a shitload of IDPA. The IDPA matches in my area are $6 for 5 stages and for that cheap it's hard to turn down. That's my main competitive shooting outlet now. I like showing up to the range with whatever gun I'm carrying, plus a couple mags and being good to go.The other thing is that it's kept me accountable to dry fire more days than I don't over the years. Without a "deadline", it's much tougher to motivate yourself to do your homework! So, do you guys shoot competition? Do you shoot your carry gun? What improvements / benefits have you noticed? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/371PPFl
