Flying out of O'Hare round trip

So I understand the transportation laws of handguns when traveling through Illinois. My issue is in chicago, I am going to be going on a hiking trip in a couple months and would like to bring one of my handguns and hunting knife. I am a Michigan CPL holder and as far as I understand chicago has a ban on carrying knives over 2 inches and Illinois bans fixed blades over 3 inches in public locations. Also its hard to tell if Chicago's magazine restrictions are limited to 10 or 15 rounds. My main question is about the legality of: unload/strip my G19 and lock it into a case, as well as, either put my Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner (or similar sized knife) in that case, or in my luggage; then put that locked luggage in my trunk. Drive to Chicago, check in to airline, go on vacation, come back through O'hare, return home.Any insight would be helpful and appreciated, I will be doing more reading and most likely calling my airline and O'hare for some clarification. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2Q9kiYM
