What can I do to protect myself if I get into the wrong car thinking it’s my Uber?

I don’t normally use this website but I’m afraid and I can’t seem to find the answers I’m looking for on google. After hearing about the girl from USC who got into the wrong car thinking it was her uber and was murdered, I can’t stop thinking how scary and helpless she must have felt. I don’t know what I would do. I’m a college-age girl who’s not very strong. Assuming my hands are free, I’m at least somewhat mentally there (not drugged) and there’s no gun pointed at me (but maybe y’all have some advice for even if there is?) what can I do to protect myself when someone is driving and locked me in a car? Hopefully while keeping myself alive and safe, but I’d rather at least die on my own terms/protecting myself than allow someone to violate me like that. Please help if you can, I’ve signed up for some self defense classes but I’d like to know if anyone has advice for this specific situation.

My #1 bet is that he will do this again, wondering at what point I can defend myself. When he pushes his finger into my nose? When he pokes me in the eye? What? Thanks very much. (California)

9mm boot gun

Hey guys! In spite of my statements to the contrary, I'm looking into getting another gun, this time a boot gun. I'd like to stick to 9mm. Do you guys have any suggestions? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2I4njWY

Stupidest CCW encounter

Today I was out hiking. Had my pistol on me and had it very well concealed when I passed another hiker going up as I went down. When I looked back (that situational awareness thing) I clearly see a Glock 19 just stuffed in his sweatpants waistband in the small of his back. Dude had a sweater on but it was rising well over the pistol and he clearly didn't have a holster. Now given that I'm not sure this was a case of a stupid CCW holder or someone who shouldn't have a gun, but either way I was just waiting for the ND or the gun to go flying. Please don't be that guy, it's a quick way to get an off duty LEO to watch your every move and an on duty to stop you. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2FLRqjc

Concealed weapons in state & local facilities.

I was reviewing TN’s handgun laws when I came across TCA 39-17-1359 (g)(1), which appears to require government entities to utilize metal detectors and security officers in order to lawfully restrict the possession of weapons on their property. Subsection (g)(2) provides a fairly lengthy list of exceptions (most all government healthcare, mental health, judicial, law enforcement, library, and public/private school facilities)I’ve always been under the impression that concealed weapons are prohibited in all state and local government facilities, but this statute seems to leave a number of facilities open to concealed carry provided they don’t utilize metal detectors (which is a lot in my experience). Am I interpreting this correctly ?https://ift.tt/2FHuLVh via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2U7UH6t

How to Conceal a 1911?

I have applied for a permit, and I’m sure I’ll get it. My question is if I can use my full sized 5” barrel 1911 as a concealed carry. Worst case scenario, I can just open carry in my state and use the permit for my vehicle. I wear a lot of zip up hoodies and I’ve been considering a left arm side holster, I’m just not sure if it will fit or not. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2uCSdy4

Arizona CCW Application

I'm doing my AZ CCW application and had a question regarding fingerprinting. The FBI fingerprint card has a spot for "signature of official taking fingerprints". I am curious if I need that filled out for AZ and if I need an "official".If not, I'd plan on doing my own fingerprints, with the proper ink.Anyone here have some insight?Built in rebuttal for off-topic virtue signaling comments.Constitutional carry - yes, I know AZ has it. Very happy for folks who live in AZ, I'm not one of them.UTAH/FLORIDA - Also great options. I'm going for the AZ permit.Your state doesn't CCW, BRO? - noMOVE, BRO - no. At least not yet. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2WzzT4A

[Update] Woman called police on me for carrying

Not sure what to tag this as. Legal?I went to the police station yesterday and asked them about what happened. I got the report and they are getting a warrant for her arrest. We have a cell number and video evidence/ their car tags also. They did see my issue with her doing this, as it wastes police resources and risks everyone’s lives. The county agreed to press charges thankfully. They agreed on she over reacted. Let’s just hope they get her before she pulls this shit again. And for those who said her name would be on the report, she walked out as the cop was talking to me so neither of us got a name or witness report (from her. We got witnesses around me) via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2HQfd5k

Texas LTC question.

I am a permanent resident of Texas, I am currently active duty Coast Guard stationed in Louisiana, because of my current geographical location I have to send in a copy of my range score card in order to complete the process as I cannot do the range portion due to being in Louisiana. My question is will they accept my scorecard which shows I qualified if it also includes the names of others that qualified as well on the same day? Can I just cover up their names with a piece of paper when I scan the document onto my computer or will they be fine with me highlighting my name? via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2OxS0Fg

Unpopular opinion: I Carry even in no carry places.

Unless it is federal buildings, etc with extra security I carry my gun in what is considered no carry areas in my state. for instance a business with a no carry sign or bars. Most of the mass shootings happen in prohibited areas for ccw holders, not going to let it happen to me. obviously I would never try to take a gun into a school or federal building but everything else i consider it fair game. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2HPd4a0

Question regarding The Beltman?

I want to buy the bison belt from The Beltman but it doesn’t give an option for an internal stiffener. Reading through here it’s pretty clear that an internal stiffener is almost always recommended. Reading further in to it, it says the belt comes “Backed by bullhide, with our woven polyester stiffener between the layers (included at no charge)”.Is this the same stiffener everybody else recommends? Is it enough? Does anybody have a bison belt that I can actually see what it looks like being work? I really love the Toasted Tan color. Any help would be awesome!I should also mention I have never owned a gun belt, and the belt I’ve been wearing the last few years is a non reinforced riggers belt so I’m going to have to get used to having a buckle again. Any recommendations on buckle shape would also be awesome.Edit: https://ift.tt/2OzsQpT link to the belt. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2FLjapF

Glock 43 or P365

I’m sure this is the millionth time this has been posted on here but.... I still don’t have a carry gun and am dead set on one of these two. Glock 43 or the Sig? Gut is really saying Glock for now but god damn the Sig is just such a cool gun that comes with so much more. I’m just concerned about reliability. It’s March of 2019, are these things really fixed yet? The Glock is cheaper as they’re $430 on SMGA while the Sig is consistently $500 pretty much every where. CCW t-shirts. Best brand?

Im looking for t-shirts that are long enough to cover carrying a concealed weapon at the 4 o’clock position. Many regular t-shirts are too short in length and if I bend over or reach up high it risks exposing the firearm. It’s always hot where I live so looking for short sleeved t-shirts/vest tops.My question is this. Can you recommend any particular brands or websites that sell t-shirts specifically designed to be a few inches longer in length for concealed carry? I don’t want anything covered in gun logos/messages as that’s a giveaway you’re carrying. And not looking for those t-shirts with inbuilt pockets for guns (they’re useless). Thanks!! via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2WC4Cy9

What weapons are LEGAL to carry around [CALIFORNIA]

as im sure we have the most confusing and non-nonsensical weapon laws in the entire freaking world i was simply curious of what non-firearm weapons (be it Blunt, projectile, or otherwise) could i carry around, and God-forbid use if ever needed and be totally legalas far as my own research into the subject goes-Swords are legal with the exception that it is not concealed.-Pepper spray is legal-bow and arrow would be legal, although just as impractical as the sword (correct me if im wrong)as far as im aware that probably itim looking to see if there are any more "weapons" i can leagally carry ever in the case i were to run into a crazy person out of the blue, or worse yet - shooters in a public area.thanks in advance :) via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2U5JALA

Defensive items that are allowed anywhere

A stainless steel hydroflask can be used to bludgeon your attacker. (filled with water makes it even more effective)

Omega carabiners can be used as knuckles. Keep it on your keychain.

Zebra pens are steel barreled. They can be just as effective as a kubaton.

Other ideas?

Summertime carry

I’m looking for a single stack 9mm for summertime carry. Since I only received my CCW a little over a month ago I’ve not had the chance to really test out my Glock 19 with Tier 1 Axis Slim white wearing shorts. I know I want a single stack as a second carry gun. I’ve shot the Glock 43 and XDS, I’ve not been a huge fan of either of them. Sig p365 seems like it could be a good option, I just have to shoot it. Moving into a bad neighborhood: Canada

I'm thinking about moving into a pretty shitty neighborhood downtown Nanaimo. The rent is great but there's a lot of homeless people and drugs out and about. Since I live in Canada we have very stern laws for self defence outside of the home. I don't have a car and would be biking to my job everyday.

Is there anything I can to for deterrence/ defense? I don't want to get robbed for injured when coming or going to my job on my bike. I know any assailant might not play by the rules.

I got pulled over with a gun

I was driving on the highway and talking on the phone with my brother. While on the phone I didn't realize how fast I was going and about 5 or 10 miles after hanging up the phone I see the cherries and blueberries behind me.I signal right to move over and turn on my hazards to pull to the shoulder, turn off the engine but leave the battery on for my dashcam. I roll down my window before realizing the officer is standing by my passenger window.Transcription of the conversation with the officer (of) and myself (me) went as follows:Off: Do you have your license and your registration?Me: Yes Sir, it's in my back pocket.Of: yepMe: My registration is in the glovebox, it's locked because there is a firearm in there.Of: WhatMe: There is a firearm in the...Of: Do you have a License to Carry? (state requirement)Me: Yes.Of: Alright, do you have that with you?Me: Yes I do.Of: Ok.I hand him both my DL and LTCOf: Who's the car registered to?Me: Me.Of: Ok. Why were you going so fast?Me: I honestly didn't realize, um...Of: inaudible (I think he asked either if the gun was mine or again if the car was mine)Me: Yes sir... I just left work, my grandmother just passed away so I'm on my way home.Of: Alright, so your registration's in the glove boxMe: yes sirOf: The car's registered to your nameMe: yes sirOf: Do you have a firearm on your person right nowMe: no sirOf: Alright, just sit tight, keep your hands on top of the steering wheel and [inaudible].about 4 minutes later he comes backOf: Ok, the speed limit's 65 on the [inaudible] and goes down to 53 through the city.Me: ok, thank you.Of: I'm giving you a warning for speeding.Me: ok.Of: ok, slow it down.Me: ok, thank you.I pull back into traffic and continue driving. He gave me a written warning which states that he ladar detected me going 86mph in a 65 zone.I never did give him my registration. He didn't ask for it after I informed him of the gun in the same place.I keep an RG26 in my locked glovebox which I usually unlock out of habit when I get in, but forgot this time since my head was elsewhere. The entire stop took about 6 minutes. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2CJ1R6o

A California mom tried to get me arrested for carrying a gun

This happened a bit earlier. I was eating out dinner with my wife (anniversary). I conceal carry as its legal in my state. My leg itched so I went to go scratch and when I pulled my hand back up my gun was visible for a second.Almost fucking immediately as if on cue I hear a shriek “SIR?! Do you have a gun?” So I answered yes ma’am. Be courteous and kind and non confrontational.“Why do you have a gun around my kids? You made her cry” she screamed. Now everyone is looking at her. Even her “crying” kid who had no tears or even signs she had been crying. I told her kindly that it’s a public restaurant that allowed open and concealed carry. She did not like this one bit. Grabs her kid (who I still feel honestly so bad for) and walks out. 15 minutes later a cop walks in. She points to me and he comes up to me asking if I had a firearm. I told him yes and where it was located. I give him my permit, he checks it, says nobody else was scared unlike what she said on the 911 callThis idiot said I was waving a gun around in a restaurant. The people beside us dispute this immediately and he leaves. This entitled little shit tried to get me arrested and possibly killed because I dared to have a CCW in fucking Tennessee.I did get a good look at her car when she left: a soccer mom van with a California tag.TLDR soccer mom called cops on me because I had the audacity to carry and was entitled to try and dictate others In the restaurant. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2V3aGiA

Colorado Red Flag Gun Confiscation Bill Passes CO Senate

Colorado just passed (18-17) HR-1177 a "Red Flag" bill that was horribly written, and completely ignores due process, and has no teeth to protect against abuse (false or erroneous confiscation) leaving burden of proof on the gun-owner to prove (AFTER confiscation) that they should be allowed to keep their guns. While this news is not directly CCW related, it certainly will have impact on the ability for people to defend themselves.EDITED: Many of the state senators brought up victims of spousal abuse who are routinely dealing with false accusations from their abusers as "punishment" and who will now face having to prove that they should be allowed to keep their guns in order to protect themselves against their abusers. This really is a shameful situation, and it's shocking to me that so many representatives have no regard for the 4th, 5th, (let alone 2nd) amendments of the US Constitution.I, for one am very disappointed in the direction Colorado is taking, when compared to the pro-2A news we've seen lately from the surrounding States. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/2ux6FaD

It's natural (and good!) to think: "What would I do?" in the various incidents we read and hear about. In the above incident there are many unknown variables (distances, target location, whats beyond the target? etc.) But what would you do in the above situation if you were on scene.
