Hi,
My girlfriend is going away to college next year, 9 hours away from home and 11 hours away from me. She doesn't know anybody in the area that her school will be.
I know the odds of anything happening are low, but the thought of her getting mugged or raped is keeping me up at night.
I've spoken with her about acquaintances, watching drinks, 'run if the guy had a knife', and I've taught her a couple of very basic judo takedowns. I'm still worried.
She tends to freeze up when she's surprised as well, which scares me.
I'm wondering if there are any good self-defense tools that I could get her to take with to college. It would need to be small enough to be carried on her person(small handbag or jacket pocket preferably, she doesn't carry big bags around) and simple enough in operation to be relied upon quickly.
I don't really trust pepper spray because I've seen enough footage of girls having it smacked out of their hands to put my faith into it.
Any advice would be appreciated
