Don't we have it good?

It's easy to forget that we have way more freedom now pertaining to concealed carry than now compared to our history. In the 19th century most states, including the states we see as 'pro-gun', often for racist reasons, severely restricted or outright prohibited concealed carry, because it was seen as the sort of thing only criminals and other undesirables do. If you were able to get a permit at all you basically had to be rich, politically connected (& let's be real, white). Vermont was one of the few glaring exceptions.Since the 80s, within my own lifetime, we went from this to a situation where in 25 states (half of the union!) including my own, you don't even need a permit to conceal carry a gun! Never mind the shift from "may issue" to "shall issue". More people are able conceal carry (with or without permits) and can carry to more places than ever before. In a few states, a student (if they're 21 or above) can even conceal carry on campus, even in the classroom! When you think about it, it's quite extraordinary how we've progressed, the scope of it and how rapid its taken place. It feels quite permissive sometimes. Stay vigilant and don't be complacent, but know that we do have it good. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/vqzRrwf
