Flying with a firearm… I’m probably overthinking this.

Flying to a reciprocity state on American this week. I plan to take my P365XL in a locked pelican pistol case. Do I need to use luggage locks on my suitcase as well? Obviously it’s a good idea to do it, but I generally don’t when flying without a firearm.
