Encountering road rage in a parking lot

I am new to daily carry and I am definitely overthinking all aspects of an incredibly minor incident I walked into. I’ll share the scenario and I’d like to hear what I can do better.Leaving a restaurant, I was walking to my car which was maybe 50’ away. I heard shouting the second I exit the restaurant. I wasn’t sure if the yelling was fun or hostile. Then I noticed a middle-aged male storming off from the car right next to mine. Let’s call him Billy.Standing at that car was an older man I’m calling Bob. I kept walking towards my car as the Billy was walking away, but then I watched Bob smirkingly ask Billy “are you going to accept my apology?”At this point, Billy is ~20’ away from Bob and ~15’ from me. I then realize that I just walked right into middle of this dispute.Billy turned around and started back to Bob, loudly cursing and pointing. I put a little pep in my step and got into my car pretending to be invisible.Billy turned back to his car a few seconds later. From my car, I noticed his car was in the middle of the parking lot, door open and significant other just sitting there watching the circus.I chirped away and laughed it off. Analyzing this situation now got me questioning my own action or lack thereof. I now recognize the poor situational awareness and idiotic insertion of myself in the literal middle of a confrontation. My question for y’all is simple. Should I have stopped to assess where the shouting was coming from or is getting to my vehicle as quickly as possible better? Any other insight would be appreciated. via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3m9vPb7
