Why was concealed carry illegal for so long in most states, mostly prior to 1986, and do you see it reverting back to that?

In looking into the laws around reciprocity around my state, I encountered the phrase "constitutional carry." Seeing it means "no permit required to carry" makes total sense. The second amendment to most of us is clear that when it says - " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" - the word bear means carry and permits are one way of infringing. But then I looked at the animated map and was shocked. Most states were red, as in "No issue" and concealed carry was illegal.https://ift.tt/2RNuqqL was it allowed for states to be "No issue" and criminalize concealed carry? It says for example From 1871 to 1995... you read that right, 1995, when GWB signed the first real concealed carry law in Texas. You know, the state we think of as all yee-haw cowboy like and all about freedom, didn't get a constitutional right until like 25 years ago. It's good that it's changing but who's to say it doesn't go back the other way? It happened once, it can happen again. It's a bit crazy to think about how fast and loose the US plays with the constitution. It's interpreted in wildly different ways and swings back and forth with almost no consistency. How can people read a phrase like "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" and just...ignore it completely for over a HUNDRED years with no consequence? As an aside - I really, really wish the founding fathers were a bit more clear and verbose because I absolutely hate they way they lumped in two separate sentences in one and obscured the meaning. They thought people were smart enough to read and understand the meaning well they're wrong. They should've just put it clearly from the getgo:"A well regulated militia is necessary for the security of the State. Also, people are allowed to own and bear arms, inside or outside, and no reason or justification is necessary as to why. This is not for hunting, it's important to safeguard against tyranny, you dim-witted halfwits. No you can't restrict this, no you can't pass laws against it, what part of shall not infringe did you not understand just now?" via /r/CCW https://ift.tt/3kIpgsv
